such a long distance to travel, might be able to go that far :D
Our defence is all over the place and you're missing four defenders... bound to be 0-0 so
I can see us winning this one (first time I've thought that all season)

ratings
digger:7.5:did well overall.saw it late but got down quickly to a free kick that came through the wall that was struck low and with power.
sean prunty:7:steady performance though i have seen his passing better.
brian mc govern:6.5: defended in the air ok but his long balls were all over the place
barry ferguson:7:rollercoater night for barry.has to shoulder the blame for their
goal but then redeemed himself shortly after by clearing off the line.defended well on the whole.
sean dillon:7: defended ok but guilty of poor long ball stuff at times
alan kirby:6.5 never really got a hold of the ball and was muscled off it several times
dean fitzgerald:5.5:thought he looked lacking in both fitness and commitment and hardly showed for the ball all night.below par deano
vinny perth:8.5:showed good battling qualities on the night and never gave up.got us out of jail with a sweet curling shot that beat a full stretch pats keeper.
john martin:6.5:in and out night but overall struggled to get involved.
dessie baker:6:not his night as he got little service and was subbed early in second half
shane barrett:8:challenged vinny for our man of the match.tireless running and unlucky on a couple of occasions.
subs eric:7:livened things up when he got involved
brian byrne:7:likewise brought fresh legs and impetus into things
sean francis:7:not on long but rated because he laid on the pass for vinnys saviour goal.
btw maz,was that you beside the man with the drum leaving the ground??
Only disagree with a couple of points there, I'd take one off Vinny and give it to Deano (who I didn't think played any worse than many of them). Vinny didn't have a great game, not necessarily bad, but gave the ball away to easily at times (first touch of a rapist).
Also would give Barrett a 7 rather than 8.
Vinny deserves the man of the match for the goal, but IMO there were no "8's" in that performance.
Pats weren't any better, and we deserved something out of the chances we created second half. Second time I've seen him, and both times Ndo looks class. Take him out of the team, and they're a lot worse than us.

well macy i think your wrong, the only one tackleing or making an effort.....dean looked slow at times, he's had a long season and i think it will take a while to see the best of him...
barrett did ok, but the high balls didn't help.
we deserved nothing out of that game, just pumped long ball after long ball forward and it did nothing, no tackleing, no spirit...
look at dessie when he was taken off, not a happy man and john martin shouldn't have even been played, he was ill...
no wonder no one is going to flancare if that is what they are seeing, long ball pointless rubbish.
great save from digger from the free kick :D
We created at least 6 excellent chances in the second half, yet we deserved nothing? I'd say we created more than Pats overall, and especially second half. The number of times it was played out short and no-one in midfield gave the defence an option... Deano wasn't great, but there's no way he was as bad as you lot are making out, and there's no way that Vinny was that much better than him. IMO 8.5 is the score of a player bossing the midfield - no one on either team bossed it in the middle.

i'll explain my point like this, we are like a group of chefs that have 90 mins to make dinner....
we walk about and do damn all for 80 mins and in the last 10 mins bust a gut to make beans on toast, just enough to get by...
by right we should have a four course dinner made and be sitting back sipping wine in the last tens mins we have, but no we make it hard for ourselves.

macy,
i think you are underestimating the effort that some of the players made last night.the pace on the whole was very fast and id say every one of the lads
were knackered at the end.i know the end product wasnt great but the likes of perth and barret were worth their scores imho.
where we lack at the momemt is invention and player confidence on the ball
which leads to getting rid of the ball too soon.
btw,i thought pats were lively enough and very dangerous down the right hand side

Yes, we created plenty of chances right through the second half, not just the last 10 minutes.

i just think its every game, we should have a lot of this donkey work done early and not have to do it so late on and make it hard for ourselves....
distribution was even worse than normal at times also

Think it was more a case of our dodgy defending gifting you chances but then I'm biased
Have to say that from the few times I have recently seen the Town play a goal for Francis or Barrett and a respectable 2-0 win somewhere would lift the heads and a few things that aren't working out may start to go our way. Shels on Friday would be as good a chance as any... One thing many people are not mentioning it the fact that it's a very credible thing to steal a draw on 94 mins. I would be happy to say that the side stuck in there, just a pity the players that need to score a goal to kick start things didn't grab it, but then again that's only a minor thing.

well said, but maybe it will move the v man up a gear as well
Read my post again...
I believe we missed sitters last night and a lot of that is more than likely a confidence thing, we won't cure that on the training pitch and if we weren't creating we would be in real trouble. (we didn't create a 1/4 chance against Waterford). What I really said was: "I would be happy to say that the side stuck in there, just a pity the players that need (ie. IMO Strikers)to score a goal to kick start things didn't grab it, but then again that's only a minor thing.". Doesn't matter who scores but if I'm being nitty picky it would do the strikers of LTFC the world of good to hit a goal. And at the end of the day if your 1-0 down on 93 mins, you stole a draw on 94 mins...
I agree with the point you make about playing the ball faster. It needs to be on the deck and we need fast ball to feet. Important players do not have the appropiate touch or even the balls to get it down and forward or out wide.

Thought we were shockin in the first half, every player was off the pace. Havin said that we had two great chances to score. Second half thought we fought back well even if we were rushing things a bit. We were gettin a bit panicky, Martin should have scored, ill or not. Fitzgerald looked tired (he has played over 40 games already) but did some good things. Eric did well when he came on livened things up as did Seanie. If Eric would get himself into peak fitness he'd be worth his place at this moment in time but as he's not I think we're getting the best out of him by giving him half an hour at a time. We have confidence problems in front of goals all round, Paul Keegan said as much after the match, reckoned players are snatching at things because they're afraid they'll miss. Wouldnt be surprised if we went and got something off Shels though
got stuck down country could'nt make it to game.if it was an improvement from the waterford game then thats a star but we have to be beaten teams below us. and at the moment there isnt many of them
