Goal either side of half-time left the Youths in charge of this tie although game had been even up to then. Pitch was, however, hard and uneven which made it difficult for both sides to play football. Youths made a few changes to the line-up but kept the 4-4-1-1 shape as in the second-half against Shels and started Packie, Shane, Anto, Wolfie, Gareth, Kevin, Craig, Patsy, Ben and Grinny playing behind Danny up front. Wexford's first chance came from an overhead volley after about five which went just wide and Cobh than went down the other end and got a shot on target. First goal for Wexford then came from a corner when Gareth stooped to put a header away. Ball had bounced on its way into the box so Cobh won't be happy with the defending

Danny then got a shot away on the turn which the keeper pushed away. After about 25, Cobh got their equaliser when a low diagonal cross from the left found their winger on the right in loadsaspace and his neat volley gave Packie no chance. Cobh than had their best spell and could have gone ahead when Packie surprisingly fresh-aired a punch and the ball fell to their forward wide-right but he couldn't volley it home into the empty net. Gareth then put a free header wide and the lead returned to the Youths with virtually the last kick of the half when a neat passing move teed up Patsy for a shot which was parried away by the Cobh keeper but tucked away by Danny on the rebound. Shouts of offside from Cobh fans for this goal - couldn't judge from where I was. Two-one to the Youths at half-time.

First chance of the second half fell to Cobh when Packie missed another corner but the Cobh forward's effort was blocked for a corner. Grinny then scored Wexford's third and was a beaut as he controlled the ball 25 out, pushed it to his left to evade the defender and then smacked it top left to give the Cobh keeper no chance. Goal of the season already, I would think. The third goal blunted the edge of Cobh's efforts and game was reasonably comfortable for the Youths thereafter with a 30 yard free-kick straight at Packie and a left foot shot on the turn which went over being Cobh's best efforts. Their keeper then pulled off a great left-handed save to stop Danny, who was clean through, getting Wexford's fourth.

Wexford's only sub. was Muzzi for Kevin with about 15 to go. However, with five to go, both sides were reduced to ten when a few handbags resulted in straight reds for Grinny and a Cobh player. Think Grinny definitely raised his hands so doubt if he can complain. Didn't see anything obvious from any Cobh player. Three-one to Wexford at full-time with Patsy doing well in midfield and Danny very lively and looking much more comfortable on his own up front. Grinny looked influential in his "in-the-hole" role and he could easily take over that role permanently (but for his red card). Cobh looked useful up front and I thought it was a good effort from them if that was their first competitive match. Super ground too and it's a shame that Cobh are not a Division One side. Maybe, 120 at it.

Youths4ever,

Seemed to be less than 10 from Wexford. Short notice of change of date probably didn't help.

To be honest more than I thought would be there hopefully a home draw in the next round as it will probably be a mid week game

Don't know what game u were watching .. But I think you had great help from the ref and lineo.. The second goal the player was standing inside

the 6 yard box on his own to tap in an offside goal with the lino looking at him and that was the killer with 1 min to half time .. Second half wexford came out like screaming babys every time they got touched they threw themselves on the ground screaming and running at the ref.. Ur 3rd goal agree goal of the season it was a great miss kick by or left mid player.. But well taken goal.. We played as it should play attacking again u failed to talk about the peno when ur right mid got dragged down and guess what lino did not see it and agin he was looking at it.. I heard he saw the ball but did not see the free because he was looking in another direction bearing in mind he was looking at both players ..o I also agree cobh player did nothing to get sent off only stop him playing and ur guy punched him in the face but thd ref had to balance out the teams and sent the cobh player off .. And it stared over wexford players diving next to tbe bench and it was then hand bags.. no offence to wexford I tbink u will struggle in the 1 div and this was cobhs first game since last november..
