The 47-year-old informed the Reds' directors on Tuesday that he had been advised by his doctor to take some time away from the game.

"We have given Dermot leave of absence and, in the interim, Alan Matthews and Noel King will look after team affairs," said Shelbourne chief executive Ollie Byrne.

"We will review the situation with Dermot on a week-to-week basis and look forward to welcoming him back as soon as possible."

This is the first season that he has devoted himself full-time to football, having taken a career break from his teaching job to concentrate all his efforts on managing Shelbourne.

Keelys one of the most animated managers in the league so isn't a huge surprise.

Since $hel$ have added Noel King to the coaching staff they seemed to have improved a lot. If Keelys doesn't make it back King be odds on to take over.

What a good win for $hel$ tonight against Bray!!!

When is Keely due back or will he get it back? As a shels fan i think King has played a big part in our recent form(bar Longford) and it wouldnt be a bad idea to keep him.
