Fair play to the FAI, they are promoting the game on their website. They are sponsored by 3 and they decide to choose a photo on Forlan in a Vodafone jersey to promote the game!!!

For a club he doesn't play for, with a sponsor they no longer have, and a mention for eircom in the background!

And the squad is ???
Surely you don't expect me to go the FAI site myself to find out what it is?

It'l no doubt be subject to the usual weakening factors in the run-up to the game but that's a very strong Uruguayan squad there. For a sporting country of less than 4 million they do alright for themselves.

They seem to have amended it since but I remember when Tardelli's bio on the FAI site read like the worst CV ever with talk of poor results, getting fired and all that good stuff.

Im surprised the FAI arent marketing the game as a chance for the Irish public to see Luis Suarez. The unfortunate reality is that if Suarez does play for Uruguay it will attract an extra few thousand to the game.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that 'Diego' is a popular name in Uruguay.

Away fans are usually in the North stand, in the corner on the left hand side as you face it

FAI bashing reaches a new low
not necessarily bashing, just pointing out that there are better photos they could have used of Forlan to promote the game

Like for a start in a uruguay jersey, which would have knocked out 2/3 problems highlighted by tets.

what would be wrong with one from the World Cup, in a Uruguay jersey, and with no competing sponsor on it?

Something to do with usage rights and all that, I'd imagine. Obviously, the photo the FAI used of Forlan was one of their own from when he played a friendly in Dublin.

Suarez is out of the Uruguay squad after picking up an injury against Sunderland at the weekend.

That'll be 5,000 less Irish people showing up to the match then.

So is that....

5,000 fans who were just about to spend 30 euros on a ticket between now and Tues and now wont bother or
5,000 fans who have just recently purchased a ticket but because Suarez is crocked, a guy they probably hadnt heard of prior to last Summer is now not playing.
or is it 5,000 fans who have a block booking and generally go to all games but now wont attend because a EPL player wont be turning out.

This Suarez boy has quite a following........

I hope the Irish fans arent distracted by any run outs for Clark, McCarthy, Coleman (if hes not injured) etc.. etc..

What will be the attendance at this, 30k at best? Probably will get that if we win on Sat. I really think the FAI should consider shutting certain areas for the friendlies, make it look better if nothing else.

The Vantage Club level usually looks as if large parts of it have been shut down.
