That 11/8 looks excellent for us. I like Derry's price too. Double for me I think.

If I was you, i'd take Mervue and Shels double for Saturday, we are are good price but it will be a tough match for us. Mervue have added some decent players in Molloy and King to their squad, Salthill are poor.

I like Derry's price too, it's tempting with Shamrock, Cork and Waterford also to win.
Are you sure on the Harps odds? I'm sure they'll be evens with the draw 9/4?

Bray look huge against a Bohs side wtith their 3rd choice keeper in.

9/4 alright for draw in Harps game. I fancy Bray/Bohs for draw, Bohs have very little in attack, but strong defence. Bray could be solid under Devlin this year

Sexton is a top young keeper though at the same time. I'll go for a draw in that game.

Shels should beat us all things being equal, 13/8 is a very good price. There's been goals in our previous meetings too. Pats could be a good bet they've had two competitive games already and Galway have lost a lot of their players.

Agree, very generous odds for Bray win. No idea what Bohs starting 11 will be and Carisle has never been an easy ground for us. Other than that Shels look about the best value.

Those looking for a value bet should check out Dundalk at 4/1 or 1/1 with a +1 goal handicap.

Jason Byrne and Mark Quigley are both quoted at 60/1 for first goal and a 0-1 Dundalk scoreline

Harps, Derry and Salthill to all draw is a nice little bet! Works out at 102 quid from a fiver!

Mervue were by far the best side we faced in pre-season. We were lucky to beat them 3-2. Once Rory Gaffney plays I'd fancy them to win.

Shels appear to have spent very well and look good value too.

The Shams/Dundalk game over 2.5 goals @ Evens with paddypowers looks a good bet imo.

There will be nothin but draws this weekend. 5 draws in the premier and Harps, Salthill and Longford games to be draws too. Nice return in an accumultor if it came in.

mervue should have no problems beating salthill IMO bingoballs. Mervue have a few nice players signed this season compared to salthill who have mainly promoted their youth players.

How terrible or otherwise are UCD??

Droghedas opponents are going to be the cornerstone of any bet this year but then UCD lost to Lisburn.

Also, do Galway have eleven senior players??

Galway had 7 or 8 signed plus a few youths added in there. They signed 4 or 5 players today so they will be stronger than expected but may take a good while for the players to get familiar with Connor's systems and each other!

If I were someone that backs against my team ..cough..Shels and Mervue double looks very tempting. Can't believe Shels are not odds on tbh. Both teams to score could be worth a look too if offered any place.

If people think Mervue are good, we must be magnificent after beating them 5-0. :)

We're not a patch on last year and won't score many goals but I think we're solid enough in midfield and defence.

I've gone for a daring enough Drogheda/Derry double. I don't necessarily fancy Drogheda to win tomorrow but they're massively overpriced at home to probably the 2nd worst team in the division so I'm willing to take the risk that they'll do it. Also I'll be at that game so it'll make it that bit more interesting.

I dont doubt you Terry but being the first game of the season I'd imagine the most important thing for most clubs is not to get beaten. with the usual carosel of the transfer window, teams will be cagey of unknown quantities and most would be happy with a point from their first game hence a plethora of draws. If i recall correctly, there were a lot of draws in the first few rounds of games last season also.

Fancy Mervue to win as well. They've already beaten Salthill away in pre-season and Salthill have taken some heavy beatings since that game.

It took two outrageous refereeing decisions for Distillery to score against us. Other than that, we had lots of ball, passed it nicely and did feck all with it really. I'd say we'll be back to being like the UCD under Pete - well organised, solid defensively, top scorer on 4.

Drogheda have apparently signed Alan McNally back, so they've two players now who can at least play football (Brian Gannon being the other one; basically, the former UCD players :) ) - that'll improve them a little bit again.

Also, remember in pre-season (for what that's worth), we've beaten Mervue 5-0 (they were awful), Longford 2-0 and Monaghan 3-1. Not too shabby.

My bet:

Harps Vs Limerick (DRAW)
Bray Vs Bohs (DRAW)
Shams Vs Dundalk (DRAW)
Longford Vs Shels (Shels WIN)
Salthill Vs Mervue (Mervue WIN)

€5 to win €900.

Worth a punt!

Gone for 5 on Pats, Rovers, UCD treble and 5 on a Shels/Mervue double. First one returns 28 or so I think, the second 24 or thereabouts. Apologies to the supporters of the above teams as I've more than likely jinxed them now.
