"A new managment team will be in place tomorrow"

That leads me to believe he was driven out tbh. Why let the man sign a squad then do this? Jokeshop.

Buckley has to be a possibility

I can't see Buckley being interested in Drogheda's budget.

As something to do til he gets a chance to move elsewhere?

Browne, Lumsden, Kierans, Matthews?

Dunny

Could be 4 or 5, thought I read it on the Drogs forum that it was 6. Lost count at this stage tbh

Never a dull moment following the Drogs. Plenty of bizzare ones though!

Strong rumours about that it will be Buckley...

Roddy.

If it was Roddy it'd be worth the price of the season ticket to go up and sit behind the dugout and listen to his ranting. Hardly glamourous enough for him, though?

Roddy.

Nope! Though he was close!

Less glam than Dublin city? maybe he can get the likes of Carlton Palmer to Drogheda :)

Would be very surprised if it's Cooke. Can't see him leaving Monaghan in the lurch like this after being there so long. It would be bad form.

It'd be the equivalent of Drogheda shipping in barrels of green glowing liquid across the sea from Sellafield - toxic waste. It'd be the death toll for the club.

Until he signs today....

Why would he do that and thing seemingly going well for the Mons?

Is there a certain ex-SF manager taking a liking to Mondogs?

I've seen some dumb decisions made in the LOI in the last few years, but that would top the lot. He needs his head examined if it's true.

Absolute madness. If I was a Mons fan I'd be raging.

Really don't get the hype over Cooke. Spent 7 or 8 years doing nothing at Monaghan, who were happy to let him. Regularly lost to non-league opposition in the Cup, before eventually almost doing something last season.

Screwed us around for an age during the close season, but eventually decided to stick with Mons. Dodged a bullet there thank God.

In fairness, if I was a Mons fan, I'd be raging most of the time.

I love the way Drogs officially announce something before Mick has resigned from Mons. Nice work there.

And walked straight into a bigger bullet with Kerley well done.

Nasty Drogs! Dundalk would never have raided Monaghan for personnel....

Think it is a crazy move, Mons looked very good against us pre-season. If the signing of Whealan is a sign of things at Drogheda he has made a very poor decision imo.

Blue Bear

Please don't say Browne is coming back :(

Magicme

I doubt it Blue Bear.

Nesta, its not so much the raiding that has annoyed me but more the official announcement while Mick is on the bench managing us in a pre-season game, hadnt told the players or the chairman, so was still our manager. Bold boys.

Onwards and upwards. Think it is a very stupid move by Mick, a man I respect and care about, and cant believe Horgie will throw his lot in with another team about to go extinct. Does he not learn. Drogs are getting 2 talented, decent blokes.

Big blow to mons chances ofgoing up Mick was a big part of what they did last year.

Nesta99

I doubt Mick himself would be too pleased with the timing of the announcement. Whats the situation with his contract? If the Mons chairman wasnt aware is it not an illegal approach then?

Strange move to say the least. Mick left Monaghan less than a week before the new season starts which is bad form in my opinion. But to go to Drogheda a team that by the look of things will struggle heavily this season is what bemuses me. With the current squad they have he will have to be a miracle worker to even keep them slightly competitive. Could Mick be Drogheda's Messiah?
