Home draw for the league cup, Limerick V Cork City. Should be a good game, though I can see City taking this seriously as they're not having the best of seasons, and Dolan might want to save his bacon.

At least its a home draw, saw it on the news tonight, does anyone know what date its fixed for.Wonder will Sweeney be travelling up.Haven't seen Behan play since he left Abbeyfeale, he should start for Cork based on previous rounds.

I'd say we'll be fielding pretty much a reserve side again, we have the league to worry about. looking forward to it though!

They said in the star today that limerick might give away home advantage for the extra revenue that they would get for playing the game at turners cross.Surely not i hope. They also more or less think cork can look forward to the semifinal's not just yet me thinks.

I'm sure some bright spark can let us know how the revenue works for this. Is it like the FAI Cup (i.e. split between home, away and FAI) or is it like a league (i.e. home team keeps it).

If it is split in three then I think moving it to the Cross would be a good idea. (before I am accused of suiting myself let me poitn out I won't be around for the game either way). But realistically the attendance at the Cross is likely to be at least 2,000. That would not happen in Limerick. The most important thing is financial stability so IMO a move would make some sense. After all, the Cross is a happy hunting ground for us - especially in the League Cup.

I'm no bright spark, but it works out like so(at the quarter final stage)
Home Team 60%
Away Team 40%
Eircom League deduct expenses for the referee ans officials (500euro)

Ergo....a home gate of 500 @ 10euro will bring in 2700. An away gate of 2000 @ 10euro would bring in 7800euro.
Not much to think about really!!

Of course our excellent negotiators would only agree to swap it if Limerick keep 60% and Cork keep 40%. Cork are getting the advantage of a home game - no travel etc., so they shoul dnot be given 60% as well. :ball:

Guys, you are the home team. that decision was made at the draw.
Just because it might be switched to the cross won't make us the Home team.

That's not what was implied by home advantage in the Star.

60% of it is automatically yours regardless of where you play. Best solution all round IMO.

I disagree. The difference in income is too substantial. If there was a small difference or if the distance was huge then perhaps it should stay, but it's not the Limerick sporting public can complain given their complete apathy towards Limerick in recent years.

I was sure it was 40% to each club and 20% to the FAI. Hey, maybe I'm wrong - there's a first time for everything, eh? ;) :D

Can't believe this, but I actually agree with fc hammer here  - Getting to the next round is more important than money IMO. Success breeds success anyway and if we got through there would probably be a renewed interest in the team again, which in the bigger picture is more important than making a quick buck.

As a City fan I think Limerick made the right decision not to plaly the game in Cork.

Limerick need all the exposure they can get in the city and switching the game to Cork would only have generated (more) negative vibes against the club.

I don't think there would have been a huge crowd in Ccork anyway. Its a few days before the Inter toto home game (€16 admission) and City fans know the club aren't likely to field a first XI.
