Keely puts boot into old pal Dykes
Veteran eircom League manager Dermot Keely, out of the game since his departure from Derry City last season, has lifted the lid on his row with former protégé, and current Candystripes manager, Gavin Dykes.
Dykes had been assistant manager to Keely at Kildare County and followed the Dubliner to Derry in a similar capacity last summer.
But when Keely opted out just 12 games into his management term, Dykes took over – and Keely revealed that he was not enamoured by the manner of Dykes’s criticism of his management techniques in the wake of his succession.
