3-1 to Ireland at half time. Kearney in the centre of everything. He is playing great football but unfortunately he cant get that goal he wants! Behan is still on the bench! Kearney set up the third with a great cross. But the Sky commentators keep calling him Keerny :p

It is strange how two players who cant get their game for city, get to play U21 International. Im not sure if it shows how strong the City squad is or how poor the U21s are!

long may it continue - city players playing for their country.its 11 games unbeaten for u21s now so they not a bad side - we have good mix of players coming through from el and some of kerrs marvels of a few yrs ago........up to a yr ago ireland were ****e at this level...

I'm awash with pride!
Liam was very comfortable tonight.
His free kick for the third goal was perfect.
The pitch was very poor.
Doesn't suit the passing game we wanted to play.
Great game.
So much better than the shíte on TG4.
Denis wasn't out of place that's for sure.

Anyone that has followed this team up through the ranks will know that they are a very good side even though they don't have any so called stars though Sean Thornton is excellent. Kearney or Keerney has always been in this team and has always done well. If he did not, then he wouldn't be playing all the time. His type of game is not really suited to city's game. He barley gets a ball on the left wing sure! Well done to Dennis Behan also on getting his first cap.

You just wish you had a legend like Larsson down at the Cross Peadar. :p

We'll both be a long time dead before you ever do...

A great player and servant to a great Scottish Club.
I think what Peadar was referring to was that LOI supporters couldn't really care less and I must say I agree with him wholeheartedly.

I watched the U21 game but a meaningless friendly between Seville and the Scottish Champions held no interest for me, an Irish football fan.

The only Scottish team I had any interest in last night was the beating of their U21 side.

I don't disagree, Razor. I just think that Peadar might have been a little more equivocal in the way he referred to last night's occasion at Celtic Park. Shîte it was not.

For the record, even as a Celtic fan, I watched last night's u-21 game. (I'd said my goodbyes, as it were, to Larsson after the Cup Final on Saturday.) I thought Liam Kearney was mightily impressive and am surprised that he can't seem to hold down a place in the Cork team. Doesn't Dolan know what to do with creative playmakers?

He probably would be a legend in the League of Ireland but you'll see how average he is if he moves to a decent fully professional league.
It's not hard to be head and shoulders above the other strikers in the SPL.
The SPL is a shambles, admit it.
Give me the eL over the hum drum of the old firm dominated debacle any day.

I had an eye on the other TV which was showing the Celtic game and it was tripe! After the Ireland game I concentrated on the Celtic game and thought to myself, what a nothing game...

Larsson has had more goodbyes than Frank Sinatra!

The eL is very physical at times and a little lad like Liam can get pushed off the ball too easily. Great to be able to introduce a player like him though to change a game.

I think the salt air is getting to you, old son. Say whatever you like about Larsson, but average he ain't. He's proved himself time and again at the highest levels, both for club and country. But I think you know that already. :)

I'll agree with you there. It does Celtic no good being involved with such a closed shop. Time for a European league. But I digress.

the SPL is far from Europe's strongest league but come on Peadar, he's done the business consistently for Sweden and for Celtic in Europe, including the Champions league and to a UEFA cup final. No matter where he goes he'll do well, he's class.

Watched the U-21 last night and was mightly impressed by the first half in which the Irish team played a wonderful crisp passing game. It as indeed ironic that all their goals came from set pieces. The two central defenders were very dominant, Whelan was very imaginative in the middle, could make a name for himself at Shef Wed. Kearney on the left looked as he could player higher if he develops physically. Foley send in some great crosses with both feet. Potter worked his ass off. Tabb and Murphy of Waterford done really well up front, although they both missed good chances. When you add the likes of Thornton, Elliott and Yeates the future looks bright.

Kearney was 8/1 to score the first goal. Had a little wager on it but obviously put my usual curse on it!!! If I'd backed him not to score he prob would've got a hat-trick

Firstly, well done Sky-they've shown a good few of those games over the last two years. Liam Keeeeeeerny played very weel, looked lively,, and he fitted in superbly. I gotta say, i was abit annoyed with that Scot in the studio saying:'Even the Irish league players look good

Maybe Pat should give Liam another go. It took him about 20 mins to get going last night, so we really aren't going to see the best of him for 30 secs at the end of a game are we.

As for Celtic-wrong forum, as Éanna already said :p
