From last nights Echo Tommy said

"We have been speaking to a number of players over the past few weeks and we are now looking further afield."
"We have a Scottish centre forward Paddy Dean on trial this week who is currently with Arbroath and has previously had spells with Hibernian and Darlington along with a Canadian midfielder Ryan Gyaki who has been playing in Germany and also had a spell with Sheffield United
Both will feature on Saturday against Cobh and also against Shamrock Rovers the following week" confirmed Dunne who is also in talks with a Finnish midfielder and has a Lithuanian defender coming in on trial next week

Its sounds good actually, and to be fair it would be good work to get them over here to a first division club.

Some more on the trialists (http://www.corkcityfc.net/home/2011/01/28/trialists-set-to-feature-in-opening-pre-season-game/)

Some Information on the trialists:

Ryan Gyaki, 25, is a Canadian attacking midfielder who has been capped at Under 20 and Under 23 level. He began his career at Calgary Storm in Canada, before spending a number of years with Sheffield United, featuring regularly for their Youth and Reserve teams. He comes to the club after a couple of years with German side Hansa Rostock.

Patrick Deane, 20, began his career at Scottish side Hibernian, where he played for the Youth and Reserve sides before moving on to Darlington. Patrick has joined the club on trial following a spell at Scottish side Arbroath.

Robert Kovácsevics, 31, is a Hungarian defender who has played for Kaposvári Rákóczi FC in the Hungarian Premier Division. He previously had spells at Pécsi Mecsek FC and Marcali VFC.

Anthony Wolfe, 29, is a defender who has had spells at Cobh Ramblers, Limerick and Kilkenny. He is currently on trial with the club, having played for Wexford Youths last season.

I was really impressed with Ryan Gyaki. Paddy Deane was woeful. Anthony Wolfe had a solid game. The Hungarian lad wasn't up to much I thought.

On a side note it was great to see Danny in a City jersey.

From looking at last nights game only the French midfielder, Vincent Escude Candau, impressed me. Aside from his goal, he looked neat and tidy on the ball and not afraid to put the foot in either. Paddy Deane was poor enough, he wouldn't be a worthwhile addition to the squad. The game seemed to bypass Ryan Gyaki, he never really imposed himself during his spell on the pitch. Maybe it would be no harm to have another look at Lee Currie, he had little opportunity to show what he could do in the 2nd half due to Rovers dominance. Who was the City keeper in the 2nd half, was he the Romanian or the Polish lad? He was rooted to the spot for the 2nd goal, never moved. Maybe the strong wind affected the flight of the ball. In fairness to both sides tried to get the ball down on the deck, but it was a complete lottery when the ball went up in the air.
I thought Gavin Kavanagh and Gearoid Morrissey had good outings for City and Danny Murphy was his usual self. Timmy Kiely looked sluggish enough when he came on.

Nice one, no harm to have a few more options in the middle of the park.

Any sign of Georgie signing up again?

We were just asking the same question during a chat at work earlier. Is he training with City? Or is he on the lookout for a new club?

City boss Tommy Dunne confirmed that trialist Jean Biansumba (18) will play some part in the fixture: “Jean has come in on trial and has trained with us this week. He’s an Irish underage international who was with Nottingham Forrest. He can play up front or out wide, so we will have a look at him in the game.”
