Who else applied for tickets for the Final? think there's a lottery in the next few days and (un)successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday. That's assuming demand exceeded supply which is surely a given. The touts will have a field day should Liverpool make the Final.

Be good if one of Sporting Lisbon, PSV or Lille made it....
;)
No chance of Liverpool in their current form.

I feel like I'm missing something...why those teams?
The ties that really jump out at me would be Napoli-Villarreal and Porto-Seville.
No chance of Liverpool in their current form.
Don't think many teams would want to play them all the same. The draw has been kind enough. Man City will be extremely hard to beat I would think.

checked my credit card earlier, and I'd been charged for a ticket for the final, but no confirmation mail from UEFA or the FAI

Agree about Citeh. As for the teams I quoted, I'll let you work it out. ;)
Finally, Liverpool, it ain't going to happen. They need to concentrate on not getting involved in a relegation battle!

Liverpool are 11 games unbeaten in Europe, so the problems this season haven't been in that competition. But if the team do get to the final, at least it'll be a proper game, not the farce that took place at Lansdowne last August.

Yeah, but have they played anyone of note?
Could get to Semis or Quarters but no serious Liverpool fan mentions winning this as they are rather more preoccupied with the EPL.

The club have progressed through two play-off rounds, and unbeaten top of the group, and have dealt with whatever stood in the way so far adequately.
Obviously, fans are more preoccupied with the league now, but that'll change the more progress is made in Europe.

given that the last time I was successful in one of these ballots was the UEFA Cup final in Manchester, I'm now convinced that Rangers are going to make the final

Didn't get tickets either...
Is there goin to be a ticket exchange thread? 2 please if there is (I know it's a bit soon)
No tickets from four applications by me and my immediate family :-(
Well, shouldn't be too hard to get tickets as long as it's Matlist-BATE final.

No. UEFA will move the final (on Gardai advice) to Tranmere.

How'd you manage that with an address in Derry?
Although the national team can be chosen from all 32 counties, fans/block bookers, from the north were excluded from this ballot. A nice wee thank you for all those 10 hour round trips supporting the team.

Would Man City, Rangers and especially Liverpool getting eliminated make getting tickets for the Final easy I wonder? I'd imagine there were thousands of Liverpool supporters who just applied in the chance that they would get there, and wouldn't necessarily be interested in going otherwise.

Man City are out anyway - beat Kiev 1-0, but lost 2-1 on aggregate. The other two are both losing 1-0 on aggregate coming up to half-time - Liverpool 0-0 at home against Braga tonight; Rangers 1-0 down to PSV.

Good to see the back of three teams who play awful brands of football anyway.
Rangers are the most defensively minded side around when it comes to European competition, I suppose it works for them to a point.
Manchester City are just awful. The Setanta comentator said something like "they've gone out on the night, but to be fair Roberto Mancini couldn't have asked for any more from his side". He must have seen a lot that I didn't anyway. Over 200m spent and they had a couple of half chances and one pretty flukey goal against a poor enough side in a second rate competition. I really hope (and think) Spurs will take their Champions League spot off them again this season.
Liverpool, in fairness, tried to play some kind of football, and will probably do so in the long run under Dalglish. They just weren't really capable last night without Gerrard and, in particular, Saurez.

Not last night they didn't. Awful stuff. just lumped it to Carroll.
Some interesting teams left. I haven't a ticket but I'm far more interested in getting one now that the 2 British clubs are out

Yeah that's true in fairness. I should have said "try" instead of "tried". I just don't think they had the personnel last night.

There's a strong hooligan element in Russia in particular.
Its usually domestic based only as there hasn't been too many incidents involving them away from Russia.

FC Porto 5-1 Villarreal
Benfica 2-1 Braga
Pretty much certain to be an all Portuguese final now. Hopefully Benfica can hold on to their slender advantage as, and no disrespect intended, I would prefer to see two European heavyweights at the Aviva. That said, would Braga making the final make it pretty easy to get tickets?
Appartently Villarreal were the better side until Porto scored their first early in the second half. Actually, similarly to the first leg against Spartak, Villarreal had a fantastic chance to make it 2-0 just before Porto's equaliser.
Been a while since Benfica have been a Europan giant but certainly most people would know them.
Hopefully Braga come over and visit the Pats shop to stock up on jersies

Imo yes tickets would be a lot easier to come by even though John Delaney says they won't. I read that Braga won't take anywhere neaer their allocation if they make the final.

Alan Kelly I think. English accent, but he mentioned losing two play-offs for Sheffield United at one stage.

It was Alan Kelly. He seemed to really rate the Braga keeper.
I'm delighted Braga got through. They've had a great season in Europe and it's great that they have something to show for it. I imagine Porto will blow them away in the final, though.
Braga did their job perfectly last night. Got the goal and then just sat back and soaked up Benfica's pressure. Benfica only had a few good chances and I still don't know how Saviola didn't get a proper connection on Luisao's header towards the end.

When you think about it, at the very least it's up there. There have been a couple of HC rugby finals, the Special Olympics - I can't think of any other big sporting occasion to come to Ireland. Even if its just the B Final, it's still a Euro Final and will attract a wide tv audience.

Braga's attendence last night was reported to be around 7211 (admittedly this is from goal.com) but their stadium holds 32,000 and it did look about a quarter full at best. I would be suprised if they took more than 5,000 for the final; Porto might take 10,000, maybe 15,000 at an absolute max.
