A really odd and slightly disturbing story. John Duddy retires from boxing. Forget the fight with Andy Lee, who I think he'd have flattened, this is a major surprise. I have a feeling there's more to come on this one. Some of it not boxing related.

Seemingly he lost the desire. Can't say as I blame him, if there was ever a sport where you needed to be at your fighting fittest it's boxing. You can get away with having a figure like Andy Reid's knocking a ball about in the EPL but you'll get your face caved in if you're not on top of your game in the gentleman's sport. Pity not to see him have a shot at the world title though.

Wonder if it's medical related given all the punches he's shipped over the years. Great fighter to watch all the same, Rocky Balboa eat your heart out.

Thought twas a strange one when I heard he'd turned down 100 grand for the Lee fight.

Desire or no he could have went into the ring and put his arms down by his side and Lee wouldnt have done him serious damage, I could be getting my boxers confused but he punches like a big jessie doesn't he??

Personally I would have took the last 100 grand.

But then I'm not a boxer (as this post should clearly illustrate. :) )
