I'd gladly pay £7:99 but Setanta are showing it through sky in the UK only...and not throughout Europe. I had the same problem while living in Paris waiting for the away match to Georgia to start and it not happening...Does anyone know of any pub in dublin with a Brttish satlelite conection to sky? The Swiss Cottage in Santry used to...Channel 5 usually has a few UEFA cup games...I heard the Parnell Mooney was good for gettin Foreign Satlelite matches but does anyone know where they are gonna watch it...apart from those who are goin over.............

Here is an email sent to me from Setanta in the UK she did not attach a list of the pubs however but I will go hunting and confirm somewhere that will be showing it....She seems to think that NTL can avail of this service but again I'm not sure.....

Hi Darragh

Thanks for your enquiry re Setanta broadcasts.

Yes, we will be covering the Unity Cup matches and they will be available to Republic of Ireland viewers via Setanta.

The Unity Cup matches will all be broadcast on Setanta PPV1 - Sky channel 435. Full schedule below:

Sat May 29th - ROI vs Nigeria
Prog Start: 2.45pm / Kick Off: 3.00pm

Mon May 31st - Nigeria vs Jamaica
Prog Start: 2.45pm / Kick Off: 3.00pm

Wed June 2nd - ROI vs Jamaica
Prog Start: 7.15pm / Kick Off: 7.45pm

If you have the facility to book events through your remote control, just press the 'box office' button on your remote control, select 'Sports' menu and highlight the event you wish to book following the instructions on screen. If you don't have this facility than you can book the event by calling 01 834 0032.

The events are also available to NTL customers via Setanta.

I don't really have a bar to advise you of re ROI matches but have attached a listing of bars in Dublin that have previously taken Celtic matches so it is quite likely they will book the ROI matches. Probably best to give them a call beforehand.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require any further information.

Many thanks,

Helena

Any chance you could post the list of pubs in Dublin that might be showing it?
Cheers

Would be grateful if somebody could explain the Setanta situation to me.

- You need a Sky/NTL subscription?

- Do then pay for Setanta on PPV basis (i.e for each Ireland game) or do you pay monthly subsription for everything - soccer/gaa?

- According to the Setanta website only some games are avalible to domestic customers. Is GAA commercial only?

I live in England and wouldn't mind being able to watch GAA/Soccer in the comfort of my own home hence the questioning.

Declan,

As far as I know Setanta is availiable to private customers as well and not just pubs...they will let you know if you contact them through the web site.

For the upcoming games in the Unity Cup it is £7.99 sterling or 13E or 14E in the Ireland. I was told you can ring this number 01 834 0032 in Dublin if you have NTL and they will conect you otherwise you can order it through the Setanta channel on Sky. I have NTL so I don't know the number. I will find out somewhere that is showing the game in Dublin and post it here tommorow.

...I think you have to pay a yearly subscription to recieve the GAA matches and for pubs I know it is not cheap 3 or 4 Hundred Euro a year. Also I rang that number to connect and it is an automated service they where showing the Celtic V Seville match tonight. So the Automated service should change on Saturday for the Ireland game.....

I'd gladly pay £7:99 ..........

I bet the TV company is laughing all the way to the bank.
I would pay that to get into the ground maybe but not to
watch it on TV.

Soon you will be paying £10 for every hour of TV you watch.

Say 100,000 people pay, thats a million pounds for a handful of
people to do a few hours work. :(

I can't make the Unity Cup because of work commitments and I don't miss any games so yes I would gladly pay £7:99 even though it is a large amount for a match but hey its not on anywhere else so what ye gonna do. I guess its a question of support and the lengths you go to support so if £7.99 is the limit to your support so be it..........

There is a way to get Setanta matches for free on Sky but I won't go into that. ;) A bit of general knowledge and googling might get you somewhere. :)

I probably would too if I had cable/satelite or whatever in reality, however
I have neither and I have no intension of getting it, you are paying twice,
possibly three times to watch some things - it ridiculous

I willl find a pub and watch it for the price of a pint :)

Its 16:99 euro for the 3 matches or 9:99 for one match its on channel 861 on NTL in Ireland. You have to ring Ntl and they will book it for you. You can find the number to ring when you go to that channel. On sky I think you can book it through there box office thingy without having to ring up. The Parnell Mooney beside the Ilac centre in Dublin are showing it so I presume alot of pubs are gonna have it.

Congrats to mattie Holland on his first goal for Ireland at Lansdowne.
