Is Ireland the only country that sells jerseys their a sponser on them?
I really hate the Eircom logo splashed across my jersey I got before WC02. BTW, I also bought another jersey before WC02 from some guy in Thailand on ebay. No logo, it's probably fake. But I've looked and looked and washed about a dozen times and I can't tell the difference besides the logo.
Is Ireland the only country that sells jerseys their a sponser on them?..I think it is, and I too think it's a disgrace. It is illegal  to buy fake merchandise but I think it is also some chuztpah to put advertising on the national shirt and expect someone to walk around with it. OK, eircom is Irish but what if it was Budscheisser or McMurders. I used to order shirts for supporters at the London branch of the RISSC from adidas when they started this. They told me they couldn't sell me any shirts without the OPEL, despite most people not wanting it desecrating their shirt.
Hi,
I've seen a few of those fakes from ebay.....your shirt from Thailand is almost certainly made from an inferior material - it probably weighs more than the official top and the stitching on the inside will be of a fairly low quality. There are other differences too but that is the most important one really. I suppose that if the FAI were to sell shirts without the logo on it they would have to raise the prices of both sets of shirts (those with and those without the logo) to cover the shortfall from revenue they get from Eircom........would you pay possibly a tenner more for an official shirt without the Eircom? Me - I probably would.

I've been told that Ireland are the only UEFA team who's replica shirts cannot be bought without the advertisers logo which I think is an absolute disgrace.
As for ad-free shirts being dearer ...other countries charge about the same for ad free shirts and I've heard of some (France i think ...and Holland) who also sell shirts with ads on for nearly HALF PRICE!!! But to not even have a choice is a despicable state of affairs. Luckily I think our current shirt is a vile sop to our Celtic contigent and i wouldn't be buying it anyway. I'll be sticking with my 1970 replica.

For those that are interested, Burtons in the Jervis Street Shopping Centre in Dublin are selling old replica Ireland Jerseys at €40 each (no sponser on them). They have 1976 home and away, 1988 home and away and 1990 home. For those of us a little bit on the portly side they cater for the "larger" gentleman. I got myself a 1990 home (it was the picture of Niall Quinn on the tag that swayed it for me).
Dont get me wrong - Theres no bigger mug than me when it comes to buying Eirom merchandise as soon as it becomes available.... but the only way to get this sorted is for all Ireland supporters to buy 70's retro style jerseys until the FAI relent on this one.
