Seems as if Shams have signed McCabe. I suppose it was on the cards. He had a great season in 2011 -- played out of his skin against Bohs in semi-final. Tempestuous player, great skill, I'm sure he'll do well.
Hard to replacement, any proposed new arrivals that posters are aware of?

Was inevitable really. A shame really as he is a great talent hopefully we can get a decent replacement

They've also signed Stephen O'Donnell and Karl Shepard. Humpty will have to play himself next season unless Darren Mansaren comes back.http://foot.ie/images/smilies-void/tongue.png

Alan Kirby getting on a bit now??
Would certainly be a replacement for McCabe but I think if we are serious about a push for the title then we have to set our targets higher when it comes to players ages and capabilities.

All's very well having a laugh at the expense of 'Humpty' but he has to be applauded for the quality of players he's brought to each club he has managed in our league. The list is long and the majority are all good players something which can't be said for many other managers.

Any decent player he got was given to him by Gerry Cassidy. On the other hand, he 'spent eighteen months pursuing Paul Brown'.

There's managers all over the world that have brought in players thinkng they'd be the bees knees only to turn out to be disappointed. **** happens, that's football. If we only remember managers for the mistakes they've made then we'd have only memories of bad managers. Sometimes, even though it may be difficult for some, we have to be honest and give people the true recognition they deserve.

To my knowledge the Gerry Cassidy/Sligo Rovers connection goes back to the Willie McStay era. Gerry has recommended some great players to our club during that time. It would have been only through Rovers Connor would have met Gerry. Since his time with us Connors has gone on to manage three other league clubs. Each club in turn has signed players that have did the business when it mattered. If these players were recommended by Gerry then it leaves me wondering were they first suggested to Rovers and we declined the offer or is there something you know which maybe you'll share with us.
