Officials at the Iranian Embassy in Dublin have reported a strong demand for visas ahead of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup play-off against Iran in Tehran. The embassy's First Secretary said today that his staff were currently processing early applications from Irish fans. Amir Miri added that there was huge interest from Iranian soccer fans living in Ireland and Europe.

Supporters intending to travel should make an immediate application for a visa as it takes ten days to process the documentation. The first leg of the play-offs will be played at Landsdowne Road on Saturday 10 November, with the return leg in Tehran on Thursday 15 November.
