Sorry for opening a new thread but couldn't find an existing one for this question :).

As you all know the Europa League final will be played in the Aviva Stadium at May 18th. That match is on a Wednesday, will there be league football on the days after the 18th, like for example on Friday 19th and/or Saturday 20th of May?

I know the fixtures are not known yet, but anyone knows if there has been any news about this already?

Also, when are the official fixtures released? Guess about February?

Thanks in advance! :)

Fixtures were announced on 17th February this year so expect similar for 2011 season. There's no reason why fixtures wouldn't go ahead in the days after the EC final, unless Rovers make it that far and postpone their game.

He has a very specific form of League of Ireland related OCD.

Fairly unlikely seeing as they were knocked out of the competition in August.

I clearly didn't think that through! That'll teach me to be a smart-ass.

It would be good planning if their were a few games the night before being played in Dublin as it would probably have an extra thousand or so attending from the teams involved in the EC final.

I understood you, TCM...

Unless Rovers, unlucky to be knocked out of the Champions League just before the group stages, stormed through the Europa League to reach the final in their home town.

That is what you meant, isn't it? Ah, even your ass is smarter than the rest of us mere mortals!!

A mere technicality...

If the final is on a wednesday and its the 18th then the next league game would be on friday the 20th and it shouldnt affect them in any way .

In a way, it'd be funny if Man City got through to face Liverpool in the final, and we had local fans of both teams at the LoI games that weekend, while the Irish "fans" of both teams just went and got drunk instead.

Or hung around and berated the "day trippers" who'd come over from Manchester and Liverpool to watch the game.
