With the draw for the preliminary round of next seasons UEFA Cup taking place on May 27, Longford Town FC are still waiting on £600,000 euro in government funding in order to upgrade their grounds to UEFA standards.
The FAI cup holders are currently in the process of reapplying for the "A" Licence that was granted to just one of the 22 Eircom League clubs,Derry City, and at this stage there is no guarantee that the home leg of the eagerly awaited European tie will go ahead at Flancare Park with the possibility of a switch to Lansdowne Road.
The UEFA Cup preliminary ties will be played on Thursday July 15 and Thursday July 29,and town could be paired with Scottish Cup finalists Dunfermline in the seeded draw.
