Irish under-21 international Eamon Zayed netted his first goals since returning to Bray Wanderers in a comfortable victory over Premier Division Shamrock Rovers in League Cup Group 6 at the Carlisle Grounds on Monday night.

Zayed returned to the eircom League after his fruitless loan spell at English league side Crewe Alexandra expired last week.

He was involved in the Seagulls’ opening League Cup outing against UCD last week and the First Division victory over Galway United on Friday but failed to find the target on either occasion.

However, he broke his duck against the Hoops, with stand-in Rovers keeper Mervyn Travers at fault for Zayed’s 52nd minute opener.

Kevin Grogan made it 2-0 seconds later, and Zayed extended Bray’s lead still further to seal the points in the 61st minute.

Marc Kenny pulled one back for Rovers’ second string from the penalty spot just before the finish after Wesley Charles had fouled Derek Tracey inside the area.

According to Aertel, you're through to the next round!

Thanks for that though - a draw against Rovers' reserves good enough to give us a decent chance of playing Shels in Tolka! :D
