I was hoping Mons would be at home so I could head over! Ah well!

What day will it be on, guess it's down in Waterford though?

The league table doesnt lie, we deserved 3rd because we were simply so woefull at the start of the season.
3rd from bottom after the first round of matches.

And we won 1 of our first 6 games. Earth-shattering.

remember the small matter of the LC Semi Final?

Yes, we remember small matters.

No in the league we didnt beat you, various reasons why but in the end your poxy football came out on top in the league, lets hope the trend continues of our performances against yee in cup competitions.

Our football came out on top because we recovered sufficiently in the remaining 30 games, you recovered after 2 defeats to us in the last half of the season.

As for the trend:

1976, 1978, 1987, 1991, 2002, 2008...

I hope it continues too.

Great victory for Waterford tonight. Even enough in the 1st half before Shels nicked a goal courtesy of a drilled Leech effort. With everything in their favour Shels spectacularly capitulated from the moment the 2nd half kicked off. I would love to know what Alan Matthews said to them at h/t, they came out a beaten side and all they did was panic when the ball was at their feet and lash the ball at every opportunity. Waterford were laughing and grew in confidence, played nice ball, bossed Shels around and stretched Shels to clinical effect. If Waterford carry that 2nd half performance onwards into the play-offs I would fancy them for automatic promotion.

Completely on the button. No idea how that was even possible to do. We played some lovely stuff in the first half.
4th time lucky?

Delighted to see Derry back, will be most welcome visitors to Dundalk next season.

Well done, equaled our 'record' of 2 FD titles, not an honours list you really want to have.,

But they`ll enjoy tonight

Well done Derry. Well done Shams. Well done Waterford and Mons.
Feck ya Pats for not getting third place. Well done Galway and Bray for the end of season enjoyment you gave. Thanks Maritimo for warming my cockles.
Here's to a quiet close season and a good cup final. Come on Rovers.
And here's to Shelbourne for breaking my heart yet again.

Roll on 2011.

Fair play to Derry, thought we were the better side in the second half, but Farren's bit of class was the difference between the teams.
About 2500-3000 in Gortakeegan tonight

Did Cork miss a penalty?

Yep. Cummins had it saved by the keeper, having earlier hit the bar from about 25 yards. Then we conceded via a soft own-goal from Lordan and an intercepted backpass from Hoggy. After all that Lougheed managed to get sent off trying to get the ball back (I think) when we pulled one back. Champagne football all round.

Obviously I can't judge on home ATT but don'y think there was that many there.

We had about 20 buses plus cars, probably closer to 1,800.

Thought we controlled the game without breaking sweat but we didn'y have any pressure on us unlike Monaghan.I thought Shels won so Monaghan missed the play-offs but you's would need to step up that performance to get past Waterford.

So many people there I didn't even get a chat to Magicme :)

I wouldn't mind hearing even an estimate of the ATT from one of the usual sources.BTW on the right hand side of the stand it was two people to every one seat! Not complaining as it kept me warm :P

Hey mister stripe of the candy....why didnt ya come chat me? Seems I spoke to every other Derry Fan!! Congrats on tonight and the Farren shirts brought a tear to my eye. Delighted we still have a chance coz even if we feck it up we still achieved what we set out for this season: Play offs and a good cup run. Cooke your a legend for delivering.

There was defo over 2000 there tonight but dont think there was 3000. Best nite in Gortakeegan I can remember. Loved the craic with the Derry fans, and those we met in the niteclub later too. Sorry we didnt got back to party in the hotel but I thought we had other fish to fry. dammit.

Whoohooo bring on Tuesday, seems football is all there is now.

On reflection I over-egged it a bit. Over 2000 though.
Agree we need to lift it for Tuesday night, the lads looked out on their feet at the end. We had more possession for long periods but had no penetration. Peter Hughes's report is here (http://www.monaghanunited.com/page2.htm) - his are usually unbiased. Bermo is a big miss upfront.

Easy enough win in the end over a lacklustre Athlone side at Lissywollen. Good game of football in the first half with tackles flying in as if it was the start of the season with Ref O'Loughlin not having a clue how to ref it. Limerick started with 3 seventeen yos on the pitch, David O'Leary, Garbhan Coughlan and debutant at center half James O'Brien. Second half 17 yo Fatima Dunisha and fifteen yo Stephen McGann arrived on late with McGann becomming the youngest Limerick player ever as well as the youngest scorer as he notched Limericks 5th on the night.

McGuinness, Kelly, Tracy, O'Callaghan, O'Brien, Sullivan(1), Tierney(McGann)(1), O'Leary(Ryan), Judge, Coughlan (1) (Dunisha), Clarke (2)

Unused subs White, Ryan

Harps were comfortable against Mervue even with dropping Matt Crossan, Davitt Walsh, Marc Brolly and Mickey Funston.
We started with 4 Under 20's players and introduced a further 3 in the second half.
Mervue's Rory Gaffney is a cracking player and should be playing for one of the top Prem sides, his awareness, movement and skill is top notch in an otherwise poor Mervue side.
Great atmosphere and result to close out a horrible season with 7 points out of 9.

Agree about that young Gaffney chap! Would easily get into a premier side. Heard Sligo were sniffing around! I would love him to come to the Blues but highly doubt it due to geographical difference! One for the future no doubts!

Waterford deserved their win last night. We were doing very well until we scored. Once the goal went in Waterford picked up and we faded. I think losing Casso to injury didn't help but we looked tired anyway. Great crowd up from Waterford for the match. I could see them beating Monaghan in the play off. Big thank you to Alan Matthews for turning our season around. Hopefully we can give promotion another go next year.

Also Rory Gaffney never seems to play well when I see him. Surprised to hear people say they think he could do well in the premier.
