Nesovic the villain for Cobh

May 9, 2004

Cobh Ramblers 1-1 UCD
Recent signing Alex Nesovic was the villain for Cobh Ramblers on Saturday night, giving away an injury time penalty to allow title hopefuls UCD to claim a point at St Colman’s Park.

Former Bohemians, Shelbourne, Dundalk and Finn Harps striker Nesovic was sent on eight minutes into the second half, but his most crucial intervention came at the wrong end for the home side.

It wasnt Alex who gave away the penalty it was the Ref.

If some one dosent get rid of Eddie foley as well as the ref.

The guy has no idea of the off side rule.

I presume then it was the ref who didn't award the blatant penalty two minutes earlier? Or send that Cobh defender off for a blatant professional foul?

Referee and the linesman who gave the penalty (or the one on that side anyway) were appalling. Spoiled what was an entertaining game. Was amazed at the number of Cobh fans who thought the referee was biased towards us after the number of appalling decisions he gave against us though.

It would have been better if he had given a penalty for Darren Murphys tackle and sent him off that would have been the right desicion at the right time.

It was the same thing for both Teams but the ref was bad and as you say ruined what could have been a very good game by being whistle happy.

I'm sorry to say that it was a definate penalty for UCD and indeed they had justifiable claims for an earlier one . In the 94th minute of the game the place tpo play football was in the UCD third of the field but we tried to walk the ball out of our half instead of putting it into their third or out for a goalkick. Nesovic definately took the player out and we can have no cribs about that. Tonight against City will tell a lot for him, he either lacks match practice or is not fit one or the two.

As Dave Hill said on da Echo da u.c.d player took a dive . Nesovic better get used to being robbed down here in cobh. a 94th minute peno against u.c.d and a 94th minute free kick against Dundalk . is it just me or are the officals just playing till da opposition score?
