View Full Version : POTY Nominations / TOTY
Star or no star, its plain begrudgery to say that Ryan hasn't been the best player in the league this year. Fabulous player.

Ryan only got POTY to stop the Sligo whinging about him missing the cup final.
Twigg is the star in this league.
Ryan has been voted by his fellow professionals as the best player in the league this season, but of course you obviously know better than them.

Well if you saw MNS you'll know that that didn't work.
Well done Richie. Easily the best player in the league this season.

congratulations to Graham Cummins. fully deserved
Was it really?
More often than not the 1st Division PotY just goes to the top scorer in the Division which just strikes me as Premier Division not having a clue about Division 1 players.
I haven't seen any 1st Division games this season and obviously Cummins has proved over the last 2 seasons that he's a very good player but was he really the best player?
Premier division players can't vote for the first divsion award (and vice versa)

He's a good player and one name most other players would have known when they were making their vote.
Obviously as he scored 18 goals (co top scorer) in a team that only had one up front means he deserved to be in the final three.
As a Derry fan I can't work out how James Mc Clean wasn't even in the top three! He's a shoe-in to recieve POTY from every SC in Derry.
Also IIRC the votes take place earlier in the season so the premier POTY has nothing to do with the ban for the cup final.

Maybe the players aren't as biased as you?

He probably only had about 3 bad games for us all year and 2 of those were the last 2 games against Salthill and Wexford. It's not like he was top scorer for one of the sides challenging for the title either. We came 6th for crying out loud. If it's generally just laziness to give it to the top scorer, well, this is a year that the top scorer in the league deserved it I reckon

Considering they voted McEleney over McClean, he's got a point.

I would have seen all First division teams over the season and the only opposition player that stood out was Phat Philly, he looked dangerous every time he got the ball.

This been an award he got from votes by his fellow players in the league....its great to see the players in the league are so thoughtful to us that they would vote for Richie just to stop us whinging. Get a grip ffs

Phat Philly?? As in Philly Cheese Steak??
The two times he played against us this season he looked completely out of his depth, he would get eaten alive in the Premier, all be it it could take a while to stomach all of him.
