Clubs urged to improve stewarding

eircom League clubs have been urged to clamp down on the rising number of unsavoury incidents that have blighted the game in recent weeks, which culminated in referee Anthony Buttimer and one of his assistants being subjected to allegedly physical abuse after last week’s Premier Division clash between Drogheda United and Longford Town.
The Drogheda United club have been furnished with copies of the officials’ reports, and the FAI’s disciplinary commission will consider the issues at a meeting next week.
