View Full Version : Massive surpise!
So it turns out that the guard who, purely by coincidence, leaked details of Trevor Sergeant's misdemeanour just after the Willie O Dea being a massive liar (actually it was really them tweeting Green bar-stewards!) affair is not to be prosecuted. (http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/1006/breaking53.html)
I wonder how the guard whom leaked the details of an FG TD attempting drunk driving just after the esteemed Mr Cowen's exploits at the FF drink-in in Galway will fare?
I'm thinking he/she will be OK, call it a hunch. What do you reckon?

I'm sure he got his protection order signed by the top man before he leaked it. It's nice to be Irish, conspiracy theories are simply just facts of life!

No, you get held to account if you're not connected, wealthy or from the right part of town. Or if you're an agent of the state.

ORA, what's on the surface is probably different to what goes on underneath. I always wonder what the sceal is when Paul Williams launches his latest shocking story. I wonder how much collusion there is between the different sides. Williams says he gets his info from all sources, including the Gardai, which is par for the journo's course. However there have been cases where untouchable gangsters escape sanction time and again (the guys in Ardee) - and it then turns out they've been co-operating with the Gardai, yet are still carrying on their nefarious schemes.
There is no doubt a balance struck between the real kingpins and the plebs, pushers, dealers and junkies, common thieves go inside, people who can't pay bills, have parking fines etc all go inside, but the big boys will always have some chip to bargain with.

From the Times article Mr. A linked to:
It is unclear why the DPP made the decision not to prosecute and the office does not explaining its reasons. It's ridiculous that Stig was better proof read than most of the current newspapers.
Also ridiculous: the DPP not having to explain a questionable decision.
