I'm thinking it's going to be a 1-1 draw. Hopefullly we can win and just keep the pressure up on Waterford and Shels. Att:250

Some shot and save in fairness, made 2 in fact. Had nothing to do all game other than that.

Ya game on now. Limerick need three wins out of three and i think we will sneak 3rd.

I've been looking at the run-ins of each of the teams in contention for the second play-off spot.
Just to outline the series of events we need to unfold in order for us to make the play-offs:

1. We need to win all our matches. If we do this we will finish with 62 points.

2. In order for us to finish in 3rd place, Waterford and Shelbourne each have to drop points in the last 3 games. We are ahead of Cork, so they only come back into the equation if we drop points somewhere.

2.a. Of the 3 teams, Waterford probably have the easiest run-in, away to Shelbourne on the last day being their only really tough match. Having said that, Longford and Athlone are never easy to beat, so draws are possible in these matches - especially away to Longford.
We need Waterford to lose 2 matches, or draw all 3.
If they gain 4 points they will finish level on points with us, but their goal difference is better than ours by 11 goals.

2.b. Shelbourne have the toughest run-in. They just lost heavily to Derry yesterday, but have a chance to boost their morale when the play Mervue on friday. After that, it's us in Jackman and home to Waterford. Our game against Shels is one of those '6-pointers'. (Shels' goal difference is currently 6 better than ours.)

3. If we can only manage a draw away to Monaghan we'll end up on 60 points.

3.a. Cork have by far the easiest run-in (Finn Harps (A), Salthill (H) and Wexford (A)) and they are one of the form teams of the second half of the season. Their wins over us and Monaghan will mean they'll be buzzing.
So they should win all their games and finish on 61 points.
So we need them to slip up once (away trips to Ballybofey and Wexford are definitely tricky, for any team).

3.b. In order to finish ahead of Waterford, we need them to collapse and lose 2 of their 3 final games.

3.c. If Shels beat Mervue and Waterford they'll finish on 61 points. So if we are to finish ahead of them, we need Mervue to pull off a spectacular draw/win in Tolka this friday.

If any of the scenarios unfold where we might find ourselves finishing level on points with Waterford or Shels, we might need to beat Athlone by anything from 7 to 10 goals in order to get into 3rd place.

Regardless of how it pans out, it's a very exciting climax to the season. The 4 teams in contention for teh second play-off place could all finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th.
Limerick hasn't been this competitive since we made the play-offs in 2003!

If Waterford pick up 4 points they are not level with us.

If we were to win tonight and they draw they are 2 ahead we win last 2 they lose 1 we go a point ahead.

Thanks for the correction.:good:
Unfortunately, it's all a bit meaningless now.
Except that we still have to go out and beat Shels next week to give ourselves a chance of finishing ahead of them, in 4th place.
