Can anyone recommend any online shopping website in Ireland? I need to buy some gifts for some young relatives, and it's always a hassle to ship from the US.

Thanks....I checked them out but they don't have what I'm looking for. Has anyone used amazon.co.uk to send stuff to Ireland?

ArmChair.ie (http://www.armchair.ie/) is a relatively new site with pointers to Irish shopping sites. They have a commercial interaction forum (http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=456) on Boards if you want to talk back to them, although they're new there too so I don't know what kind of response you'll get.

Amazon is great, I order about €100 worth of stuff off them every month. Delivery is usually within a few days, but watch out for availablity of the stuff you're putting in your cart, if there's one thing with a longer lead time it could hold up everything else.

Yeah amazon.co.uk works fine, only takes a few days and very efficient.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm surprised at the lack of good Irish online shopping site however. You shouldn't be, the economies of scale aren't right in Ireland, Irish venture capitalists don't have the imagination or the balls to go for it, and to be perfectly frank Irish retailers are too greedy to improve the situation. Find an investor and I'll put a team together to build the best though...

What exactly are you looking for & not finding on an Irish website such as Buy4now ( gifts, souvenirs, toys etc)

Is it true stuff ordered from Amazon going through DHL are being stopped by customs & they charging VAT/Customs on them?

I assume they could only do that if they were coming from outside the EU.

I needed a router from them in a hurry recently and didn't experience this.

They certainly can't charge VAT anyway, since Amazon already do.

Aaaaaaaaaargh. I had to do a 20000 essay/project on the advanatges and disadvantages off online shopping.

What its effect was to society, was it another way of helping an already lazy species to become lazier. I made a mockery of it really. Got a B for it and promptly binned it.

ARMCHAIR.IE

Thought that would have been a great name for an Irish premiership supporter website.

I dont think the american amazon do though. A lot of the albumns i want i just simply cany get in europe so i go througfh the american amazon. Its waaaaay cheaper as the dollar is so low at the moment. I got a jeffersen airplane box set for €22 - unbelieveable.

latest albumn only €10 - go through their sellers as there cheaper than amazon

I'm not a big music fan and they won't ship electronics over here, so I rarely buy from Amazon.com. (Actually I don't think I've ever bought from there, although I do have a wish list (http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/registry.html/102-1505715-9199335?%5Fencoding=UTF8&id=34LZ8VVT8B9OB). Some hope.) Anyway, wouldn't the shipping be a fair hit? I sent a book from someone's Amazon.com wish list to Australia one time and the shipping was more than the bloody book. And the book wasn't cheap either!

Books yes. CDs no for some reason. My last cd including postage was €10.00.
That was buying off amazons sellers though (not all ship international).

I only strted buying from them in the last year or so since the dollar fell so low. If flippin sterling would do the same we would be laughing.

Metrostars,

A shameful plug I know, but we're a new Irish gift site called gifts.ie that may be able to help you out. We offer deliver to anywhere in Ireland next business day at affordable prices. See our site here: www.gifts.ie (http://www.gifts.ie)

Hope this helps!

I am from ArmChair.ie (http://www.armchair.ie), we are a new directory of online stores in Ireland.

Just linked to a site from yours there and a camera I was looking at is €200 cheaper than the high street price.
Bloody heck!
Your site is firmly added to the top of my "favorites" list.

http://www.tesco.ie/Register/default.htm?from=/superstore/Default.asp?

if u register an irish address (any relatives) with them and have a credit card, u can then send anyone stuff from tesco as long as they are in the vicinity of a store. u have a choice of delivery times too (7 euros)

i used it a few times to send family some alcohol for birthday parties
