Better second half performance from the Youths secured a point in Ferrycarrig tonight which they would have been happy with. Wexford started with same eleven as against Harps with Packie, Wolfie, Hopper, Anto, Gareth, Kevin, Shane, Greg, Deano and Danny and Gary up front. Derry generally dominated the first half and had an early chance from a through ball which Packie rushed out for and misk-kicked to himself. Goal then came shortly afterwards when McClean cut in from the left wing upopposed and got his shot away low right wiithout anyone closing him down and with Packie not moving. A tight off-side prevented a Derry second and a free header from Derry then went just wide. McClean then went past Wolfie but his shot was deflected away by Packie with his legs for a corner. The only threat from Youths was good work by Gary down the wings but nobody never looked like getting on the end of anything. Nil-one at half-time.

Second half started brightly and Danny had a left-footed volley just wide from a through ball while, immediately after, the tall Derry side hit the bar with a header from a corner. Kevin then headed just over from a good cross by Deano and Derry for a spell seemed to lose focus which let Wexford back into the game. Gary then equalised with a replica of his goal against Harps as he picked up the ball against unprotected Derry halves and put it on his right side to hit it low right with the Derry keeper having no chance.

Shane then had a shot just over while Derry hit the bar again from the second header off a free-kick. Danny hit a free-kick just outside the box just over the bar and towards the end, Gary shot just wide when put through by Danny. A few dangerous freekicks from Derry ended the match with a one-all final score. Ben ryan came on for Kevin after about an hour while Martin came on towards the end for Hopper who limped off.

James McClean and his sexy boots created havoc down the left for Derry but there seemed to be a nervousness in the Derry defence which was not there in previous matches. Thought also that Derry seemed to run out of steam after about an hour which allowed Shane and Greg to close down and get crunching tackles in in midfield which they were happy to take. Gary had a great stint up front while at the back, Anto Russell had one of his best games ever for the Youths. One-one at full time with about 450 at the match.
