Seems like a dull 0-0 match so far.

Serbia go one up
71 min: GOAL!!! And guess who has popped up to score it after all their pressure? Luka Milunovic. It seemed inevitable, as Ireland were forced to defend deeper and deeper. The change in tactics from Serbian coach Tomislav Sivic looks to have worked wonders.

Lost 1-0, meaning Serbia top the group.

Without sounding too harsh, it happens very regularly. PLentyof hugely, hugely talented youngsters don't make it. About 95% of them
read something before that only 1 out of every 11 students that joins an academy will play professional football at any level.

I can believe that stat alright.

Anyway fair play to the young lads. 2 wins out of 3 is respectable and something they can hopefully build on.

From the Greenscene summary

The better side won overall, with 10 shots to our 7, and 9 corners to our 2. But you have to wonder if the loss of Shaw in the 25th minute to injury totally changed the match. Particularly as Doolin changed his formation to a more midfield-minded 4-5-1 after that. Was he looking for the draw from then on? After such a great opening match and performance against Luxembourg, I’m left a little disappointed after that performance. That said, I look forward to much more under 19 soccer in the spring when Ireland play in the Elite Stage of qualifying.

from the match text
88 min: A good chance for Brady comes to nothing as his shot from long range comes to nothing. At least Ireland are still playing the ball along the ground and out to the wingers.

So, at least Doolin set out the team win the game, playing 4 in midfield. And his game is not a template of the senior team.

It sounds like Serbia dominated the game, frustrating the Irish lads into persistent fouling - Ireland committed 25 fouls, in contrast to Serbia's 13.
Also, something that caught my attention from the GreenScene commentary was that Mark O'Brien came on as a midfielder. I thought he was a centre-half?

Think they were guilty of a lot of fouls in the first two games too.

Could've been a mistake about O'Brien coming on in midfield, or has he played there before?
