Seems to have gone mental. Pages and pages of them when I go to What's New or New Posts.

Go to their forum and us the "mark this forum read" option in the dropdown menu (it's on the top right somewhere - forum tools or some such). If this is just a one off, it'll clear them from the new threads search. If it's the aggregator going all mypost on us, it'll clear them until the next batch comes through.

UEFA and the FAI both updated their sites without forwarding the RSS feeds, so all this crap ploughed through when I updated them. Feel free to let the FAI and UEFA know that their web developers are incompetent morons...

There's an awful lot of UEFA posts, should I kill it perhaps? Very few of the posts are relevant to Ireland.
Yes, please do. Wasn't so bad when I got search for new posts with ignoring certain forums but haven't been doing that since the upgrade. I think I suggested that club RSS feeds are added as at least they have some relevence.
Here's the Pats ones;

I'll remove the UEFA one. I'll add one feed from the official website of each club, if people post them here. I'm guessing general for Pats dodge?

Dodge, who manages the Pats website? The feed is borked, crops titles and descriptions if an apostrophe rears it's ugly head, for eg (http://foot.ie/threads/141381-Pats-Preview-St-patrick).
It's all the articles that go up on the official website, dunno why they dont use the other one.

The system here pulls in the content from the feed too, and posts an excerpt. Twitter doesn't have excerpts, because it's garbage.

As if to prove me wrong (http://foot.ie/threads/141391-Pats-Ref-named-for-friday-s-game). There's definitely something wrong there though, I've had at least two articles I couldn't push to the homepage because they were cropped to bejasus.

asked for this in the older feeds thread, but it got lost in the mix:
I've set up a twitter account for when I update the new Irish Abroad site: http://twitter.com/irish_abroad
can you add its RSS feed to the feeds folder - http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/106106241.rss
The feed is only going to be updated when the site is updated, or if there's an outage, none of the usual "my cat's breath smells like cat food" rubbish
It is proper news, and related to Irish football, and there's only update links (apart from two posts when I had to test a new automated client) so any chance of an exception for that feed?

True, but each result highlights the Irish players in that game, and it's a co-operative effort from users on foot.ie, TheBoss and irishfan86 contribute the results from Cillian Sheridan's games in Bulgaria and Aiden McGeady's games in Russia, respectively
I'll check out with the webmaster dahamsta. is it just the headings where the problem lies? The articles seem to link OK?

Fair enough. I'll include it in the automated feed pull, but I'm not sure pushing it to the front page won't be counterproductive. Opinions?

Yeah, they link fine. Here's another example from the weekend, note the title: http://foot.ie/threads/141549-Pats-St-pat

The Pats problem looks like it's down to using curly apostrophes (i.e. ’ instead of ' ). I had that problem with an RSS feed before.

Just a thought, could there be a separate folder in the feeds folder for twitter feeds of irish footballers, football journalists, etc?

I think if anyone wants that, they'll just follow them on twitter. I'd imaghine there's a few lists out there with most of it. No sense in having the feeds here just turn into a twitter feed

some to start off
Players:
David Meyler: http://www.twitter.com/#!/DMeyler
Padraig Amond: http://twitter.com/#!/padraigamond21
Shane Duffy: http://twitter.com/#!/ShaneDuffy1
Stephen Ireland: http://twitter.com/#!/StephenIreland (rarely updated)
Stephen Hunt: http://twitter.com/#!/boyhunt
Journalists
Ken Early: http://twitter.com/#!/kenearlys
Daniel McDonnell: http://twitter.com/#!/McDonnellDan/
to be honest, most of it is the usual guff you get on twitter, but you get the odd update on things like injuries and training

With twitter dying a slow death, I've moved the live updates to mastodon. Found out recently a feed can be read as RSS
Can this be added to the list of feeds? If the updates swamp things, just remove it

John83

That change seems to be pulling a lot of feed entries. Some start-up issue or maybe it's pulling the same posts multiple times.
At least that and the title just being "Abroad: " means the new posts feed made me think of this:

I don't think the emoji problem is resolvable, I think emojis are disabled on Foot.ie because people tend to abuse the living bejasus out of it. Can't stand the things meself, which is probably another factor.

no problem on the emoji, but the automated updates do contain a lot of them, e.g. https://mastodon.ie/@irish_abroad/111755862220375400

I wonder is there a way of targetting that feed better?
It's a lot of updates and it can drown out the "New Posts" feed at times, especially when they're all the same heading. I know you can mark the entire Feeds forum as read (though not sure how to do that on mobile? And in a way it defeats the point of the Feeds forum), but if there was a way of prioritising things, that might be better?

I've disabled it for now. I'm not very familiar with Mastodon, but I presume you could prioritise in some way with tags and IFTTT, but I don't think it's a good idea without titles.
