FORMER Celtic ace Evander Sno (http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/article3137293.ece) last night suffered a heart attack during a match - and had to be brought back to life four times.

Frantic medics battled for 15 minutes to save Sno, 23 - now with Ajax - after he collapsed on the pitch.

The Dutch star was then raced to hospital. The scare came while Sno was playing for Ajax reserves against Vitesse Arnhem in Holland.

A statement on the Vitesse website last night read: "Evander Sno suffered a heart attack in the second half.

"The defibrillator was used on four occasions and it appears that saved Sno's life."

Vitesse chairman Ted van Leeuwen said Sno was in a "stable" condition when he was taken away by ambulance.

The Ajax website said Sno was responding well to treatment in hospital.

Last night his former Celtic and Bristol City teammate Paul Hartley told of his shock.

The Aberdeen midfielder said: "He's only 23 - you don't expect that to happen to a fit, young lad."

A Celtic spokesman wished Sno "a speedy recovery". He added: "The prayers of everyone at the club are with Evander and his family."

Dreadlocked midfielder Sno played for the Hoops between 2006 and 2008.

His scare follows a spate of tragedies where stars died on the pitch.

Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell died aged 35 after collapsing during an SPL game in December 2007. Four months earlier Spain international Antonio Puerta, 22, suffered a similar fate. In 2003, Cameroon's Marc Vivien-Foe also died.
