Despite the result Carrick didnt look great but I suppose first game of the season explains that. With the new lads plus injured players returning things should improve.

no which is an absolute disgrace, they very rarely even update their aertel page, you have to buy the waterford news & star to get results and tables, i think they had a site a few years back but it was closed down for some reason.

Yeah. WJL has not yet moved into the technological era. We live in hope.
Is it because none of the city clubs have been winning anything. On the field of play that is!!

Tramore seem to be very strong from what I hear. They played Evergreen in a friendly and won quite easily, 3 nil , I think.

While both are big losses to any junior side they have being replaced with jj butler john Murphy Paul Coady from rock rovers and 4 youths have joined the panel as well mj walsh lee grace eoin wells and anthony grace so from a league perspective they are as stong as ever on a munster and fai run we will wait and see

Carrick 0 Waterford Crystal 0 A tempestous affair Carrick had Alan Ryan and Brian Barry sent off as well as Sam Walsh sent from the dugout, the ref lost control of the game by his lack of consitency in showing cards, Carrick played for over 30 mins with 9 and never wilted the glass only ever had 1 good chance that went narrowly wide, Crystal will be disapointed as there was def 3 points for the taking with Carrick missing so many players and also having the two sent off, they never passed the ball wide just lumped long ball which was meat and drink to Daffy and Josh, in injury time Wayne Fitzgerald was fouled by the crystal striker who actually suffered a serious injury in the tackle possibly a broken leg!

The unfortunate thing about today was that there was no referees assessor present. For the first 15mins he ignored blatant fouling by Glass players and the first Carrick tackle from Alan Coady( a player he also dismissed last season v Ferrybank) got a yellow. From then on his performance went rapidly downhill. It was a joke.
If this farcical officiating is to continue the league will descend into chaos.

Was at this game and have to say I think the ref did very well (one of the best refs around at the moment). There were a few run of the mill tackles in the first 20mins - then Alan Ryan goes 2 footed over the ball & rightly sent off - bit of niggle then between Brian Barry & crystal player - Barry reacts & sent off
Ref then barracked for rest of game for every nothing tackle (including 1 goon repeatedly calling him a "bum boy" - I was on opposite sideof pitch & could hear this clearly) - the quickest way for the league to descend into a farce is for this treatment of refs (particularly the good ones) to continue
Having said all that I'm an admirer of the many great things cufc stand for and would side with them in a lot of their issues particularly in regards to the waterford league (ardagh cup latest farce) but I think yesterday they were rattled by a good referee not being intimidated or bullied by the home team / crowd
Crystal were very poor by the way - if they were still there now wouldn't have scored - can Tramore challenge this year?

I wouldn't question the sendings off at all but the rest of his decisions were very poor how was Conor Fell not sent off or even Cogs up front i was also there and while the ref shipped a bit of flak i didnt hear anyone call him a bum boy and i was on the half way line at the carrick side, this ref also was in charge of Carrick and tramore at the start of last season another big game he completly lost control of and nearly descended into chaos after a carrick player was assalted

How a game progresses is usually down to how the referee performs from the outset, how the deals with tackles, how consistent he is. how he enforces the rules of the game, how he connects with his assistants etc. By not punishing early tackles by Crystal players (those on the opposite side of pitch would not have seen these offences) and then cautioning a Carrick player for a lesser offence after 15mins therefore set the tone for this encounter. What ensued was therefore hardly surprising, given the history of this meeting.

Saviours 3 hibs 2 also Johnville beat bohs despite bohs asking for fixture off because they had one of their nets stolen, best excuse ever to get a game off!!!!

Carrick away to dungarvan on wednesday night squad is very depleted minge breeno fizzy all suspended aswell as sconnie on holidays, Landers has hurling commitments E.Burke and a few youths are also going to a debs could be a real tough fixture for them.

:)Why have Carrick fielded very weak sides thus far this season, yes lots of players suspended but where are the rest are they losing interest up there?. Have seen a few games in the league so far this season and the standard is poor Dungarvan in particular looked doomed. Hopefully a more even title race will make up for the lack of quality.

Ck won 1 nil in hibs tonight. tough game for both , but Ck probably deserved it . hibs have improved and should not be in any bother. Ck seem to be getting back to full strenght and I can see Tramore , Crystal and
Carrick being there at the seasons end. (same old, same old). tramore won 3 2 in Saviours and Crystal won tonight

Ye Carrick just about deserved the win, quality goal as well. Could have had a few more after Hibs were reduced to 10 players. But lads the referee !! - shocking. Nice crowd as well. Have seen Carrick twice this season they seem to be at half tilt and still no one can beat them.

have my doubts about crystal lasting the pace in the league, i saw them playing carrick last sun week and wasn't that impressed with them. carrick had 9 men for the last 40 mins and apart from 1 half chance crystal struggled to break carrick down. I d agree that tramore should be in contention alright for the league.

Yes , a very much improved Hibs last night from last season. Carrick getting back to full strength. What were the other results from last pm? I know Dungarvan beat Bohs.
Please dont get me going on those referees!! But no matter what last night's ref at Hibs did, it would not be possible to reach the depths of the Carrick v Crystal match official.

Did your mate tell you about the Hibs players shouting at the ref to yellow card Carrick players?
Regarding the shouting . The Hibs bench and Carrick SUPPORTERS were voiceiferous throughout the ninety minutes. But surely referees who aspire to officiate at this and higher levels can put up with ,what I assure you, was very mild.
I was at the game and witnessed Carrick fans interacting amicably with the official.

that hibs player should be banned for life from the waterford league thats 3 red cards in a row versus carrick all for violent assults he was ran out of tramore after the last one and hibs should now do the same an absoulte disgrace, he gave jip to the crowd the crowd gave it back also re refs shouting for a descision is different from abuse most refs get on fine with carrick but bad decisions will be questioned even if they are right :D

lads i have recently moved to the waterford league and find it extremely annoying and frustrating that the league has no website with up to date fixtures, results and league tables.Other local leagues such as kilkenny and tipp south have websites and are regularly updated, have the clubs ever raised this issue with the legue?its the 21st century lads even a simple blog or facebook page would do as long as it was updated on a regular basis.

I know i thought when starting this thread there maybe some banter between clubs, there seems to be no one from wdsl lurking on here, as regards the website its an disgrace that the league hasnt embraced the internet, League tables have be accessed in the newspaper also i dont understand why Carrick United hasnt a website!!!

yeah i cant understand the small amount of people using this forum from the waterford league(compared to Limerick thread, and even TSDL)considering what i said previously as regards the lack of an official league website surely on here would be the ideal place to update results etc.Carrick Utd have a class setup in carrick and i think it will be only a matter of time before they have a website up and running, the initial setting up is the easy part but its a full time job keeping it updated..
