The Munster Senior Cup final will take place on Monday May 23rd at Tom Drohan Park, Coolnamuck Road, Carrick-on-Suir, with the kick-off set at 7:00pm.

The final will be contested between Limerick FC and Carrick United. The Blues overcame Douglas Hall in the last four to guarantee their place in the final while junior side Carrick played out somewhat of a giant killing, overcoming Cork City by a solitary goal to nil.

Limerick have a proud history in the Munster Senior Cup winning it eleven times, most recently in 2006. While it may not be top of Pat Scully’s priority list, the Limerick fans would welcome some long awaited silverware to Shannonside.

For Carrick, the prize is a much bigger target. As a junior side, it would be a fantastic accomplishment for all involved, surpassing all the participating Airtricity League sides to claim the trophy in front of their home support.

1A Play Off Piltown V Grannagh Tonight Thurday @ 6.30pm Ozier Park
This promises to be a cracking encounter and has alot riding on it, to become 1A chmapions and alos become a premier league team for next season Piltown have some ex carrick united players in Tony Reade and Ger Walsh in their ranks along with the likes of Mark O Driscoil and Glenn Conway have alot of experience. Grannagh beat Piltown 2-1 in the cup last week and look to be strong in the midfield area especially. I fancy Piltown and the pace of Alan Walsh to break down Grannagh and send them up.

Tonight is another major occasion in the history of Carrick United as they entertain Limerick in the Munster Senior Cup Final. It's another big night in Tom Drohan Park and let's hope the local support attends in big numbers.
Weather is due to improve so everything set up for what promises to be a big night.
Following on from the shock win over Cork City , will Carrick again upset the odds?
Kick-off - Tom Drohan Park - 7pm

Historic night in Tom Drohan Park last evening with the winning of the Munster Senior Cup. This was the last year that Junior teams were allowed in the competition.
An amazing bunch of players who have won 9 Premier league titles in the last twelve years, 2 Munster Junior Cups, 1 FAI Junior Cup and now the Munster Senior Cup.
Well done to Brian Barry, his coaching team and squad.
A massive crowd along with the local Brass Band which provided a great atmosphere.

Possibly so but there is still a good core group of players, Carrick will want to promote within the club first prior to signing anyone although no one has being mentioned yet as a possible signing. Teams come in cycles and for the best part of 15 years we have have being challeneging for major honours if we have a few years out of the limelight so be it but we have a serious academy producing very good footballers who will no doubt plug the gap in years to come in and drive us on to league and hopefully provincial and national sucess

They came through a long qualifying route which included a preliminary qualifying campaign and they put a strong England side to the sword in a 3-0 victory to qualify for the finals," said Smith.

"Over the past number of weeks, I have had to make a lot of difficult decisions about the make-up of this squad. I would like to thank all of the players who took part in our preparation for these finals and while there were a lot of difficult decisions to make, I hope that those decisions will bear fruit in the coming weeks," he added.

No he didnt not sure what he is doing, Ian Cleary and JJ Butler didnt play because there release from town wasn't sorted yet. Gk Adrian Lb Nipper cb Sconnie and daffy rf Josh, RW Keith Walsh middle Conor fell & Lee Grace LW John James, up top skinny and spud. missing Barry Murphy, ready, alan coady & Eoin burke aswell. Keith Walsh got the goal in first half they leveled in the 94th minute.

Carrick 3 Watford Cyrstal 0 John James Keyes JJ Butler John Murphy
Piltown 0 Saviors 1 Joey Twomey
Dungarvan 0 Bohs 2 Bobby Keoghan 2
Ferrybank 0 Villa 0
Hibs 0 Tramore 3

A decent 1st half performance last night from carrick capped off with two wonderful goals 1st from John James a cross from the left by Anthony Power was flicked on by Butler onto John James's chest at the edge of the box where he volleyed an unstoppable shot into the far top corner leaving Derek Aherne no chance. The 2nd came 5 mins later following a passing move from Carrick that every outfield player got invovled led to lee Grace finding space on the right to clip in a ball for JJ Butler to power home a header from 10 yards. Carrick went dead for the rest of the half and game and Glass had 2 or 3 grear opportunites to score none of which were good enough to beat Adrian Walsh who was outstanding yet again. In the 90th minute sub John Murphy turned delightfully on the edge of the box, jinked past another defender and drilled the ball in off the left post. The score line flattered Carrick some what but there is encouraging signs for the season ahead.

The Waterford Junior league have set up this site for all fixtures, results and tables.
It came about as an independat page was set up by the founder of a discussion page on Facebook. The league reacted the only way they know how -Ignorantly and set up their own and threatened legal action for use of the title Waterford and District Junior League and for also reproducing their Fixtures without permission.

Anyway biggest game of the year so far on Saturday night in Graun Park as Carrick visit Tramore with Carrick 2 points behind the "Galacticos" of the Premeir League. Should be one for the ages. Conor Fell is suspended for Carrick after being harshly sent off v Ferrybank, Tramore could be without Quilty as he was sent for Violent Conduct v Saviors.

Prediction: 2-1 Carrick if we close the space for Grant and Russell in midfield and do not leave them pass the ball we will be in with a great shout.

Yeah, Carrick up against it on Saturday. Tramore have been busy putting a squad together in an effort to wrestle the title from 'The Hoops'.
I will sit on the fence and predict a score draw!

Jaysus lads - would ye not set up a new thread for the current season (I know ye won the league last year but it's time to let it go!!).

Looking forward to game tomorrow night - last season's fixture was a right match - unfortunately for Tramore they didn't take advantage of their win. Tramore seem to have strengthened while Carrick if down a number of retired players (who has hung up their boots Wayne Fitz, Alan Ryan??) must be weakened from last season.

Would reckon Tramore to win 3-1.

No point opening a new thread the interest is not there, if the mods could change the title to remove they year it would be perfect.
Carrick were very poor away last and hopefully will improve their performance in Tramore tomorrow night. big crowd is expected.

Tramore much the better side in their 2-1 win over Carrick on Saturday evening. They were on top all over the pitch (while never dominating) - particularly in the middle where Stephen Grant was class - Carrick's young pairing in there were out of their depth. 1st half was a good contest - second was all Tramore apart from last 10 minutes where Carrick put on a bit of pressure without really looking like scoring. When Tramore have Paul Quilty back up front they will take some beating - as for Carrick - think they'll be up against it this year (just the way they like it!!) to win trophies.

The standard has being going that way for a while now, it doesnt help when all of the best talent is being hoovered up by one club. Saviors have made great strides recently but that is about all that is improving. Too many premeir teams are depending on signings instead of developing strong schoolboy set ups to bring players through, but even developing a good schoolboy set up has its barriers as if you show potential as a good player at a small underage club the likes of Villa and Bohs will "sign" up the talented players on promise of trials here there and everywhere. Waterford United have also started taking the u19's seriously this season and this has taken away most of the talented youths. Carrick were supposed to be signing two players, Doherty (from Carrick but went to Bohs and Villa as a teenager) & Fitzpatrick (Father is from Carrick) but both signed for WUFC which is there right. All these factors coupled with emigration has stagnated the Premier Division in Waterford and in many other leagues, just look at the limerick thread.

Good post cufc and hard to disagree with you.Only thing I will say is any club in the league would take the best talent if they could get them(and most try).Nice to see carrick doing well again in schoolboy football, shouldn't lose any more like young Doherty.

Carrick Utd. have won everything in the game over the past ten to twelve years in Waterford Junior League and beyond, culminating in their Munster Senior Cup success last May. The fact that this was achieved with local players makes the achievement all the more commendable. They are the club which other teams measure themselves by.
With the major efforts being made in schoolboys and the work put into the academy it means the club has a solid foundation.
Last weeks squad versus Tramore epitomised this philosophy.

Just dusting off the dust and cobwebs on this one - what's the latest?

Have Alan Ryan & Michael Coady returned to Carrick to strengthen their squad (talks of Adam McSharry coming back as well which would really improve their stock). Tough one away in Dublin in the FAI and a probable away to Tramore in munster sees them needing to improve their personnel.

Tramore scraped past Hibs last week (granted with only 10 men for most of game) - eyes are firmly on the big ones I'd imagine.

Ah yeah - has been from a long way out. They'll have been disappointed to have their game with Ferrybank called off over the weekend. Don't get to many Carndonagh games (!) so don't know a lot about them - 'no easy games at this stage'.

Carrick with a very tough trip to Dublin - are the new recruits eligible - did they play the weekend?

Very tough trip, I believe both are now eligible for the Munster & FAI Junior cups. The league was over after Carrick and Saviors were beaten by Tramore before Christmas.
