lost 2 douglas hall 3-1 in cup last nite.and they missed a peno.played very well in first half but didn;t take our chances.should have scored at least 1 if not more-their keeper made an unreal save in the first half from a header from 6 yards-managed to get hand to it and knock over the bar.went in 1 down after mistake by keeper.equalised in second half but then we faded cos we tired- they started to create a lot more chances and we couldn't keep ball.got 2 goals in last 15 mins to win it.disapponted with way we conceded them but they are very good side.very good strenght in depth-they were missing a few last nite and d subs they brought on were jsut as good as players they replaced.just glad it wasn't league game

Cant see past dougles for league. They just seem to be in a long run of good form. But think if teams start to get points of them they will crack just like last season.

got absolutely destroyed by UCC at home last nite- lost 0-3 and could have been more.they looked very good but we gave them too much time on ball and they were really up for it. we never got going and it could have been a lot worse. gave away terrible goals again.left back played attacker on as he was about 5 yards behind rest of defence, keeper beaten from about 30 yards and got a hand top second but pushed it into top corner (he did redeem himself with sone good saves later on) and the third one was an OG with a shot hitting teh post and going into teh net off d left back. saying that one of our forwards had a nite to forget missing 4 one on ones but he wasn't only one- don't think anyone had a good game.saying that -hats off to UCC thought they were very good and were best team we played so far this year but that was partially due to us being so bad

could have been more to be honest,
we were awful,
everton play some good football in fairness but we were woeful
things can only improve after a performance like that,

beat blarney away on fri 3-2.started well but bad defending led to blarney going 1 up. scored a jammy gaol from a cross to draw level.our forward jumped with keeper but don't think he did anything wrong. goal was given to disgust of blarney. blarney were reduced to 10 men about 15 min into game. we had a good attack going and blarney player sesing danger took our player out from behind.rather than just trying just to trip him he jumped in from behind and whacked him- stupid tackle and blarney line went mad when he saw red but it was stupid tackle. they were arguing every single decision- some bunch of moaners. we scored 2nd goal from break from a corner. they looked dangerous from set pieces. we missed a peno just before half time. in 2nd half they played some good stuff with 10 and our keeper pulled off 2 great saves to stop them from equalising. They took off their best player- a big tall fella in the middle who was winning everything in air and game changed.we should have had more and christain dennehy got some overhead kick for our third and was unlucky not to get 4th, They scored from freekick the last kick of game.

didnt see th red card challenge to be fair but i heard it was a yellow
the reason we were moaning every decision is because the ref was so poor
ruin ed what could have been a great game so early on
i thought we played some good stuff i cannot fault any of the lads
we put in a performance that we can be proud of
you would not hav known we were playin with 10 watching the match
mayfield keeper made some unreal saves
christian dennehy was outstanding
onwards and upwards this week anyway
rockmount at home

beat mahon 2-0 at home. good defensive display. game of few chances but we had majority of them. stevie "wonder" scored the first in after about 60 min and we withheld pressure towards end before christian scored a 2nd just before full time.

beat midelton 3-2 at home on fri. super comeback. played really well but couldn't score- missed alot of chance and then conceded soft goal. looked like it was going to be one of those days as we kept missing chances .then went 2 down with about 30 left but thankfully we came back with goals from casey (2) and killian to grab what seemed like an unlikely win with 30 mins left.great fightback

doughlas hall beat everton 2-0 but points going to everton cos hall fielded 2 players who were suspended.with a squad of about 20 odd it was a stupid move by hall management.they prob would have won if they hadn't played those 2 lads. hopefully they might get a few more points taken off them cos its prob the only way anyone will stop them.

that sounds fairly crazy on the part of douglas,
when we played them ealier in the season they had full panel plus 3 or 4 not on panel that night.
who were the guilty 2

Is anyone actually surprised by this? There is a lot of clubs fielding suspended players and playing senior players under different names. It makes a mockery of the rules. I think it is about time the MSL takes some action on this and deduct points off clubs. Douglas Hall should be used as an example here because i doubt this is there first time doing this. It is an unfair advantage against the teams who actually follow the rules

the 2 players sent off in FAI junior cup game.the heavy curly haired fella who plays in the middle was one of them-think his name is Aggy, not sure who the other one was. heard it was a mis-communication between club secretary and manager-didn't think suspension had gone through.hall played in munster junior cup week after the FAI cup and the manager of the other team had watched them in the FAI game and protested that they were suspended- heard he contacted everton cos he felt aggrevied and told them to ensure the 2 players involved were not playing. don't know if everton knew before game but they didn't object until afterwards.

Big one tonight for D.Hall, if they win this I think its over! Rockmount would be too far behind even though they have games in hand. Anyone know if D.Hall are being penalised for playing those 2 x players that were meant to be suspended. Points deduction would see Rockmount back in it. Mayfield should provide a good test tonight. Hall double Senior and Junior for me.

ROCKMOUNT 1 -1 BLARNEY UNITED

saw this game tonight in absolutely awful conditions in whitechurch
blarney took the lead in the first half with a set piece
rockmount equalized about 25 mins into the 2nd with a set piece
good performance from both teams considering conditions
not much football played but not the fault of teams
fair result

There is always going to be a huge gap between Cork Junior teams and most other teams in the country as most of these teams don't have senior teams.

I saw in a post that they are stopping junior teams participate in the munster senior cup. It would be great to see the Limerick teams and in their own senior league and what kind of standard their second teams would bring then. Would give the Cork teams a better chance because I cant see them getting close at the moment

the cork MSL junior teams are effectively second teams
from what i have seen the quality is very good in this division
but as you can imagine whoever stars for there team will be called up to the first teams so they wont have as settled sides as the rest of the country's junior teams
seems to be a bad year for mjl teams in these cups this year though bar douglas hall
Luck of the draw maybe???

Michaels will be to organised for the Hall but you never know. Douglas are high in confidence at the moment and will travel there with nothing to lose attitude. Still fancy Michaels being too strong physically.

got beat 4-0 at home to crofton this morning.
we were a disgrace, had striker sent off halfway through first half and were already 2 down.
looks like all interest is now gone and both us and our seniors will be playing in lower divisions next year.

doesnt sound to good
you need all your players to be on top of there game in this league to do any damage
that sounds like an AUL attitude
its a pity

Especially with numourous teams having a substantial amount of games in hand it isnt looking great for ye, but from personal experience, I think a lot of junior clubs have the same problem when it comes to the hangover problem. The difference between 80% of the teams in the league is attitude and nothing more, thats why its the same teams are there and there abouts when it comes to claiming the league each year, superior attitude towards the game and a wanting to improve themselves and hopefully getting the chance to represent their club at senior level. I think your 100% right Bufc2010 it is a AUL attitude to have

yes bar the top division in the AUL,i believe thats the attitude of players.
IT was there top division that beat effectively the MSL's second team players
and can you really base your argument on a 1 off game?

Some big games this weekend Junior, with Everton, Rockmount and Mayfield having tough away trips to Carrigaline, glasheen and Midleton respectively!!
Just wondering on people's toughts on how these games will go??
Reckon rockmount will beat glasheen and the other 2 will draw, with carrigaline and Midleton tough to beat as of late.
Think Douglas might have a battle on their hands to get the title after their points deduction, might not be as straight forward as first seemed.

Bufc and Mr reliable have a good look at our own senior league now bud and ask where they all started! As for a one off it has happened a few years now. As for senior standard most Aul premier teams would be comfortable playing senior 1st div with 1 or 2 maybe in the bottom of the prem so dont come on here with yer Aul attitude whem most clubs i know train twice weekly and play at the weekend. The hangover factor does happen but the same happens up senior let alone the jnr section ye have.

I think the number of teams from MJL & AUL in open draws each year answers that attitude question!

keepers!
24/02/2011, 12:10 PM
I think that's a very narrow minded thing to say "AUL Attitude" I can think of numerous teams outside the premier such as Kilumney, Bohs, Blackstone etc in the premier A, Springfield, Carrigtowhill and a few others in the first division that have anything but an "AUL Attitude" as you put it.

they just want a game of ball and thats that
at the same time i imagine there are a lot of dedicated fella's playin aswell
i havent just picked this out of the sky, this is from my personal experience

BUFC, you are right but to tar everybody with the same brush is wrong. That's like saying everybody playing Senior league are excellent players but we all know that's far from the truth!!!

BUFC you've upset a lot of people now HaHa. A bit small minded to tar everyone with the one brush. I've played 9 years Senior and 7 years AUL with Castleview so I've a good feel for both. The set up of teams vary from club to club but also season to season. When teams are doing well they usually have a better set up. I agree some AUL teams may not be set up very well but I could name a few junior & Senior MSL teams who can hardly field teams.
I have been dealing with both League Committees for many years now and if the MSL would only take the 'AUL attitude' it'd run much better. AUL Committee are a much more professional outfit.
Case in point take Central Rovers, some of you probably mightn't have heard of them, old AUL team. They had a good team in the 80's. With their good old 'AUL attitude' they produced one of the most successful MSL managers ever, Billy Cronin. One of the league of Irelands most gifted players, Patsy Freyne. And one of the top referees in the country, Aidan O Reagan. All this with the good old 'AUL attitude'.
I've come accross this attitude alot over the years and I just laugh at it now. Doesn't bother me but you've upset a few on the AUL thread.
