Comfortable enough win for Cork in Turner's Cross tonight as Youths never really looked like getting a goal back after Cork went ahead. With Jimmy gone and Anto suspended, Youths started their usual 4-5-1 with Packie, Gareth, Wolfie, Aidan, Hopper, Kevin, Shane S., Shane D. Greg, Gary and Danny up front on his own. First half was generally quiet affair with Shane D. getting two shots away and Gary unlucky not to go round the Cork keeper and got a kick for his efforts. Packie did well to push away a Cork header but goal for Cork came about ten minutes from the blow and was a good one with one long pass finding the Cork winger who immediately crossed long to the far post where Cummins had a free header and beat Packie who may have got a hand to it. One-nil at half-time.

Second half followed the first with Cork generally on top and Wexford not really able to test McNulty in goal. Best chance for Youths fell to Danny who had a free run on goal but Cork defender got legal tackle in from behind just as Danny was about to shoot and got the ball away for a corner. Cork had a few half-chances as well but the match ended with Cork holding the ball at either of Wexford's corner flags. Subs who came on for Wexford were Deano for Kevin, Shane Nolan for Greg and Dean (?) O'Flynn for Shane S. Last sub. is new to me. Would like to see Noel draw up an alternative approach up front for last 20 minutes where, as tonight, the Danny-Gary threat didn't really materialise even though both tried hard. Shane Nolan again looked lively when he came on and should be pressing for a start fairly soon. We may be showing the signs of losing influential players like Breener, Patsy and Jimmy K.
