Goal with about ten minutes to go secured the three points for Longford Town in another close and entertaining match in Ferrycarrig after Anto had been sent off midway through the half for a second yellow. Wexford started with the 4-5-1 shape as against Limerick with Packie, Wolfie, Anto, Aidan, Hopper, Dean Shane S, Shane D, Greg, Gary wide left and Danny up front on his own. Game started cautiously enough until Wexford got some passing going while Longford were more direct either straight to Hynes or to a useful right winger. Early chance fell to Danny but although behind the Town defence he couldn't really get the bouncing ball under control and chance got away. Longford then scored direct from a corner when Hynes (?) got a free header and ball was touched in at the far post. A Longford defender then nearly sliced the ball into his own net but the Wexford equaliser came right on half-time when a Wexford corner came to Gary just outside the box and after one touch, his powerful shot found the net with the aid of a deflection. One-one at half-time.

Packie tipped an early Longford shot over the bar at the start of the second while Hopper had a free header saved from a Wexford corner just after. Longford then created two good chances when Hynes dinked a ball into the box but the runner in good space headed tamely at Packie. The Longford left winger then had a free run at Packie but at an angle and he dragged his shot wide when he should have done better. Wexford were finding t hard to create chances with Gary having switched wide right but finding his pace being matched by the Town left full. Subs who came on around this time were Muzzi and Shane Nolan for Greg and Dean. Anto then got his second yellow when he dragged back a Town attacker just outside the box. Good battling by Shane Nolan in Longford's third set Danny free but he had to hurry his shot and it went over the angle. Town then got the winner when Wexford couldn't clear another ball in the air and it fell to the Longford sub (Odabele) who scooped it over Packie. Match then fizzled out with Longford doing their best to hold the ball in the two Wexford corners. Best for Wexford were Packie whose handling was exceptiinal and probably Danny with his back to goal. Still look vulnerable in the air with our lack of height while another area which could be improved is the quality of our crosses which are generally ballooned into the box and give the opposing keeper far too much time. Good to see the crowd improving again at around the 400 mark.
