No doubt they will, which would be great.
But the sad thing is they will be showing it because Juve are playing, not because Shams (or any other team for that matter) has progressed further in a European Comp. Or maybe im just cynical.

Just waiting to hear that they won't because they have everything tied up in showing some game in Ringsend the following week...or am I too cynical?

i just want to see the game but if they dont show this then they really are a national disgrace.

We'll have to have a whiparound for Maxi to go to the Esso in Clonskeagh if RTÉ don't deliver.

Actually, Topaz is closer I'm told.

Lads any idea when tickets will go on general sale or will they go on general sale?

i reckon they could sneak the draw at home...

Part of me is happy that it won't be general sale and it won't be a muppets day out a la Shels Deportivo, but it would be great if they start campaigning for Lansdowne to take the wind out of the FAI's sails. It's unlikely to be practical, but more bad publicity for Delaney - the precedent is already there, with the aforementioned shels game.

I think the wind is already out of the FAI's sails as regards their friendly as a game against Juve that week surely trumps it

I guess, and highlights the ridiculousness of the timing of the friendly by our national association.

Absolutely and a competitive game at that.
As in an Irish club is taking on one of the biggest names in Football on an equal footing.
Which is in stark contrast to the FAI shelling out millions to get some Corporation over for a game against a mish mash LOI team.
The contrast between the two couldnt be greater and I really am hoping for Shams to pull something out of the bag here.
Any rivalry or differences I have with Shams pales in significance to the pure elation I will have if Shams wipe the smug grin off the Barstoolers and the ineptitude the FAI glory in.

exactly, and its NOT a meaningless friendly.

Perhaps it shows their faith in their own run League...or just a serious case of lack of hindsight, that by chance they did get to the 3rd round they could draw a big team!!!

Can they extend it for these games? i would have thought temporary seating for all europa league and cl games is not allowed, pretty much any UEFA run competition like the internationals.

First leg is on RTE.

I guess that means RTE missed out in the bidding for Liverpool's game!

Great news though ... coverage of the second leg would be even better.

Duggie

they will prob see if they have a chance in the 2nd leg before they decide?

The value of the 2nd leg will be dependent on the result of the first leg.
However im sure Setanta/TV3 have made low ball offers for the second leg already.
