Think we just need to brush ourselves down and move on after the Wexford game now, so . . . this is looking like an even more important game than it was two days ago . . . predictions?

If O Flynn starts i'm going for 2-1 to us. Otherwise i'll say a draw. See no reason why Stevo won't start though.

Should be by now. He certainly looked it against Sunderland.

Well then I agree. No excuse not to start him. And Kavanagh.

Think Steveo said himself he still isn't ready for a full game but id satrt him and give him an hour.

Id be bringing in Kav,Steveo and Yellow or O Leary. Think its about time Tracy got dropped but wont happen he is never even taken off.
Could seriously do with getting a new right back or even playing Gavin Roche Kelly was shocking last 3 games and was the cause of 3 of the goals and Peter Whites red card in Wexford.

Massive game need a win start Steveo and i think we will win 1-0.

Ya i agree Tracey needs to be dropped. He has been poor all season and there are players playing better than him at the moment and they need to start. O Leary needs to start more too. I didn't see the Wexford match but i didn't think Kelly was doing too bad in his previous few matches.

I think Kelly was poor against Waterford and Salthill too it just wasn't highlighted as much really was awful in Wexford. If i had my way id play this team v Mons

Ryan
Roche Purcell Rogers Deady

Kiely Yellow O Leary Tierney

O Flynn Kav

Because he is not a right abck and would it be better to keep him playing in the A league when he could be getting games in the 1st team in Athlone.

But its not his position its better for him to get games in his proper position he wouldn't here as id say Yellow,Judge,White and O Leary are ahead of him as well as maybe Sullivan.

Think i'd agree with your line up there. Would prefer to get as much out of O'Flynn as possible and take him off than have to bring him on if we are chasing the game.

Good to hear Hughes has been loaned out for some first team football instead of just released and gone back to playing junior.

Not as if Clarke is a bad player to bring on after an hour if we were to start Steveo.

I know it is a tad early, but this is a must win to keep the pace at the top in my opinion. We are a long way from winning this division by 60 odd points. :) Hopefully O'Leary gets the nod in the middle. 1-0 Limerick.

Balls :(

Big hairy balls. That felt like a defeat :(

All over them in the first half, then we sank deeper and deeper in the second half and invited them on. Good penalty save from Davey, shame the rebound was scored. O' Leary looks really decent in the middle, pinging passes from flank to flank.

Fingers crossed we can get something at Tolka next week.

Jofspring
23/07/2010, 9:25 PM
Although there is still plenty left to go in the league i think we need a win in Tolka. Otherwise Shels will most likely overtake us and Monaghan and Waterford will open a gap on us.

bluewhitearmy
23/07/2010, 9:39 PM
Dont think we will go up dont have the nerve.

Thats tonight and against Waterford we left points behind by being too afraid to push on at them when we got on top.

Invited Mons on to us tonight and they were always going to score. Strange that every time i see Kelly reffing us i get the feeling we will get a pen against us.I think if we had pushed on we could have got another though we didnt try get forward until they equalised and didnt work.

we could have won the game if Kavanagh didnt do so much fcuking about with the ball instead of the simple thing.
surely John T is a better option then him and dont get me started on Treacy

Agree about Kav and JT.

And ive been saying it for ages about Tracy he cant even move like balls right in front of him and hes struggling to get to em never even taken off ever like bit of a joke at this stage could even put Kav or JT out here instead of him.

yep it was a defeat all right. Thought Graham Kelly did his usaul, bottled it in the first half and didnt book anyone for persistant fouling. Mons could push on then knowing that they had him in their pockets. Im told that the peno wasnt a peno, (is that 19 penos in 29 games now for Graham Kelly?) failed to give one late on for mons when it looked like it shold have been but if it wasnt then why didnt he book the player for a dive. Monaghans play is...........christ its boring!

I note John Delaney is even getting the blame for the referee now. You couldn't make it up!!

I had thought it was an actual penalty to be honest. I thought at first look Purcell had lunged in and took out the player. Whether he got the ball or anything after it didn't matter, he took the player first. Hard to know for definate from far away. The second was a definate penalty but the ref didn't see it clearly so couldn't give it. The linesman probably should have though.

Don't think Dave Ryan had to make a single save barr one or two handy ones till the penalty. Very unlucky it dropped back down for Hughes.

I know Tracey scored again but barr that i thought he was poor. Sullivan didn't start too well but i thought he grew into the game and did very well in the second half till he was taken off. O Leary was excellent too.

Very annoying that when it did drop back down there was 3 Mons attackers waiting for it and no defender in sight.

I didn't think it was a pen but even Scully said on radio today that it was.

Penalty didn't look like one for me the Mons player definatly looked for it as they spent more time lookin for frees than anything else, the second one deffinatly not a penno and player should have been booked. Things weren't the same since stevo came off

osarusan

I thought it was a penalty alright. They should have had another one later too.

Monaghan looked a shambles in the first half, but with only a one-goal lead, we let them come at us too much. They were worth their point in the end, but I don't know why we didn't keep pressing like we had so successfully in the first half.

2 weeks in a row we get penos against us that were soft as $hit and fail to get ones ourselves for blatent fowls inside the box.

Bad luck or something more sinister? been happening a lot post Barca.

Game shifted focus when Stevo came off, but there's no doubt that the game would've been polished off if Limerick's (deserved) penalty had been awarded. Different game entirely.

When was this? The only incident I can think of is when Kelly tangled with the keeper, but the keeper got the ball then.

Haven't heard the rumour but i wouldn't be suprised if he has asked to leave as first team football will be harder at the moment and he'll probably get more regular football with a junior side.

The challenge on Tim Kiely just before they got the pen.

Can't argue with that to be honest. We aren't killing off teams early and we are letting teams have a go at us. Sometimes we hang on for the result, sometimes not.

Thought Steve O'Flynn was brutal. Hopefully he gets better. Don't think we have our best team out if JT & Clarke are both on the bench. Yes, we should have put both Waterford and Monaghan away recently...but I think we still looked better than both of them so its still all to play for. God...we really need a win this week though.

I do believe this is true. I have it on good authority that Saturdays A Champ match v St.Pats was his last match for us (he played brilliantly by the way, as an attacking right midfielder). He's working in Dublin which is the reason he's leaving us.
