Bray Wanderers have announced the appointment of Brian de Salvo as the Club's Development Officer.

Best known for his work as a theatre director, Mr de Salvo's original career was in advertising as a writer, producer and subsequently award-winning director of television commercials. He is now a familiar voice during commercial breaks.

Brian de Salvo was a goalkeeper whose career in English non-League soccer spanned 17 seasons and included a brief comeback for Drumcondra in the League of Ireland. He is a qualified F.A. coach.

His role at Bray Wanderers will be wide-ranging, assisting in the club's progress as soccer in Ireland moves forward in the twenty-first century.

Wanderers General Manager Jack O'Neill said "the appointment of a Development Officer for the club is a major step forward for us. Brian's vast experience in different aspects of football will be of immense importance to us. This is the first of a number of announcements over the coming weeks as Bray Wanderers continue to progress both on and off the pitch."

Brian de Salvo will continue to broadcast his weekly soccer column for RTÉ Radio Sport.

The worst thing about this is he's not writing his brilliant match reports on braywanderers.ie anymore. Now it's the extremely long winded Mícheál O hUncheychán whos doing it and God but they're so boring! Good luck to Brian de Salvo though- he knows football inside out.
