Hi lads.
I'm just wondering, I read in one of the morning papers recently that ex Waterford United
striker Daryl Murphy was on the radar of new Celtic boss Neil Lennon.
Is there any movement on this ?

I also heard a rumour about him going to Rangers...

He's gone off everyone's radar from what I see. Papers are in silly season. There hasn't been a world cup game for nearly two days now. Have to write about something.

He would score goals in the SPL, and he would be cheap.

Murphy is a very effective goalscorer at Championship level but all of his Premiership experience has been on the wing. I think he'd do well at Celtic - very tall, very powerful and good at bagging goals against weak defences.

He's far better than that goofy clown Samaras

Samaras was rated an 80 or 81 in the last FIFA game, whilst Murphy was in the mid-sixties. I don't think he's better than Samaras. FIFA games don't lie, I use their ratings to form my opinions about all players, especially ones that I haven't seen play myself.
I once drove my car straight into a lake because my GPS told me to.

Samaras has really good feet but you'd never put any money on him taking a chance. I think he's a decent player actually. I think there's a very good footballer trying to get out of Daryl Murphy, I just hope someone can get it out of him.

I dont know whether to report this post or what but someone has definitely hijacked Stutts' account.
The odd burst of pace every 10 games or so and perhaps a neat finish interspersed with 9.5 games of applauding fans and team mates galore, pushing his long locks out of his eyes, jumping to compete for headers like a complete fanny and generally really poor footballer simulation - 2 years of watching him at Celtic has led me to believe he is more Greek Tragedy than Greek God!
I have still hardly seen anything of Murphy over the years, so really cant comment. Genuine question, where/when was his best spell in first team football?

Colbert, fair enough point, but I'm only going on what I see myself. Murphy has looked decent with Ipswich and in fairness most of the opposition he faces there is of a higher standard than Samaras meets in Scotland. I remember when Samaras was at City, and while he wasn't bad at home, he never turned up away. However his performances in Euro 2008 left me asking how he was rated by any professional manager(I know - they know a lot more about the game than me). My patience finally snapped looking at him against South Korea in the WC.Junior, in his post above sums him up perfectly
He is definitley one of those players that you ask yourself "how is he a professional footballer?"
Another prime example is Corluka at Spurs - he cannot defend

Way off the mark with Corluka, one of the best right backs in the league, played out of position in the centre when Spurs were short and he looked poor I grant you but as a right back there are very few I'd take above him.
As for Murphy he seems to occupy that good in the Championship but not good enough for the Premiership space, would probably do fine in Scotland

He may have improved a little since REdknapp came in, but at City and in is his early days at Spurs he was awful
Am I backtracking a little?
