It is with great sadness that I've just heard the news of the passing of Anthony 'Jelly' Keenan. He was a great servant to Longford Town and also his home town Athlone. Deepest sympathies goes out to his family.

May he Rest in Peace

I remember him from when I was a young fella, he'd be training with us sometimes. Seemed like a nice guy. RIP

I heard the sad news yesterday on Jellys passing. He was only 50 and spent two different spells with us from 1989 to 1991 and from 1997 to 1998. He also played for Cobh Ramblers and Athlone Town too.

There will be a tribute article in his honour in this weekends match program. Poor fella was in ill health over the last few years and was given the all clear when he went to America for treatment a few years ago.He suffered a brain tumour.

may he rest in peace.
