Went to the game yesterday and to be honest I think we gifted them the result. The first goal was a shambles, what were you thinking Jimmy!!!!!!We didn't perform at all in the 1st half, 2nd half we improved but we didn't test their keeper enough.Thought the 2 new guys did alright on their debuts but Finny and Stevo were a huge loss.We need these guys back ASAP.
Having seen our 2 home games now I believe we should at least have shared the spoils in both contests, conceding late goals are killing us, if we can work on that then hopefully things will improve for us.
Also nice to see Steve O'Flynn turn up to watch the game Sat.........if only we could have held on to him maybe things would be looking a lot better than P4 WO D1 L3.
Still I am the eternal optimist.....keep the faith... the only way is up...

After watching the last two games galway away and finn harps yesterday its going to be a long season. We did'nt deserve anything from yesterdays match and were very poor indeed, finn harps were'nt great but they deserved the win we lacked ideas bigtime we were fortunate to equalise and it came from nothing because we looked like we were never going to score. The two players that came in keogh and mernagh were very average indeed maybe early to be judging them but they did'nt look too promising against galway and yesterday against finn harps. We do have alot of players playing out of position and already the squad is being stretched to the limit just four games into the season. We badly need a commanding centre half and a good strong tackling midfielder, there is'nt much to be optimistic about really.

Dont know what your problem is with C.P. He's scored 2 in his last 2 and looks like he could be the one player who has a bit of guile.

Colin O'Brien just refuses to pass. He's the most talented player we have (and I would say one of the best in the division) but if he's going to be a selfish git all season he's not worth keeping. He may have scored two goals already this season but if he remembered that he has team-mates we might have a little more to show for the season thus far. If he cops onto himself he'll be great for us. Otherwise we'd be better off playing Steven O'Flynn (crutches and all).
Agree with SLK and Gael so much in fact that we should bring a second ball for CP to Athlone on Friday. Then he can dribble around the whole defence, corner flag, ball boys and whatever takes his fancy...selfish is an understatement !!
The Team needs to bond as they hardley know eachother. We dont need a solo artist at his point in time

Good points SLK. What does everyone think of Conway? I think he is much worse than those mentioned (well except CP - one wonders is he actually on the team!). He simply doesnt have it physically and really didnt deserve to start. On Saturday's performance we have no-one (finny being injured and the exception of course) who really did Limerick justice except for John White.

To say the two new guys were crap is being a little harsh, like everyone else at the club they have been thrown in there at the 11th hour and expected to perform miracles. The whole squad is practically new and with no pre-season games under their belt we will have to accept our position at present.
I have to agree with John D in that the team will have to gel in order to perform better and that will only come with games. The two home games we lost by the odd goal, and the squad hasn't even begun to show an understanding of each other yet, so all we can do for now is give them our support and hope it comes sooner rather than later.
Can anyone tell me why John Healy was dropped, its one that baffles me especially after seeing Jimmys performance last Sat.He dosen't appear to be comfortable in any part of his game, dodgy at backpass, not commanding enough in the box and very slow to react to danger.

Because he was dodgy all the way through last season?
Agree with most of the rest of your post though.
I'm not sure about Mernagh though wouldn't consider it fair to judge him on one game. Keogh looks a workhorse but not much more so far (Ciarán Foley anyone?) but has a bit of pedigree so I'd give him time. Conway hasn't convinced me yet either, I think that Ebie Quigley looks a much better prospect.
