Mark Farren was red carded against Bray on Friday night! Doesn't that mean he should be suspended for the next competitive match? Konopka was sent off for us on Friday and was suspended tonight! Hopefully Derry made a boo boo and Athlone get the win!
On our match Salthill are way out of depth in the LOI one of the worse teams iv'e seen. Completely outplayed them and 8-0 does us no justice!

That was embarrasing. . We should have scored 2 or 3 in the first 10 minutes of the second half but in all in we got lucky to get a point, drogheda were the better team.

I bet Salthill are looking forward to coming to the Brandywell. lol
Farren misses the replay against Bray.Cup games/replays are different.

No boo boo there, different rules apply because Derry are still in the Cup and we're not.
The automatic suspension is for the next game in that competition, unless you're not in it any more, in which case it's next competitive full stop.
Derry are still in it, so Farren misses the replay. If they'd won the tie, he'd miss the Round 4 game instead.
We're out, so Konopka misses the next competitive game, which was tonight's league match.

Super win for the Bit o Red at the UCD bowl. Both teams played some excellent football at times. I thought Keane's sending off was a bit harsh, tackle wasn't fully two footed, it was fifty fifty and he won the ball.
UCD had a lot of possession and made a few chances for themselves, even hitting the post at one stage. We made a few good breaks and probably should have made it three on a couple of occassions.
Very happy. Brings us right back into the bunch. I still think we need to get a proper centre half in to push for a top three place.

Limerick 2 - 1 Finn Harps.
Sean Kelly glanced in a header to give us the lead after about 4 minutes. We bossed the first half and should have had at least one more, but Harps scored a goal of the month contender (right-foot volley from the edge of the area) just before half time. John Boyle topped that with a goal of the season contender (if only there had been a camera there) with a curling strike from about 35 yards. We ended up hanging on a bit and Davy Ryan made a couple of excellent saves to get us the three points. Harps had a player sent off at the very end, a straight red for abusing a linesman (at least, I couldn't imagine what else it was for).

AMAZING!!
We didn't deserve it but fact that we got it is a good sign. Big two games after the break now but we're nicely set.

I wasn't overly surprised when he gave him the red card but my initial reaction when the tackle happened was a definite yellow card. Then again if someone did tackle on one of our players I'd have been ****ed off if he wasn't sent off. Pity about the 2 red cards at the end as it was an excellent game. If we'd stop trying to walk the ball into the net we'd have knicked another couple but the main difference between the 2 teams was the 2 keepers. UCD keeper at fault for both goals I thought and Brush was very solid

Tought Buttimer was shocking tonight. A few of us thought he was on his way to book Sheppard for diving as he had been fouled outside the area (if at all) but instead gives us a peno and sends off Shelley. Harsh on Shelley. Then Brennan first kicks Bobby Ryan, then clatters him off the ball, and doesn't get sent off. Daft decisions for both teams, not awarding Bohs a free for Barry Ryan handling a back pass, waving play on when McGuinness took Sheppard out of it as he went past him, failing to award both sides a corner near the end when two efforts on goal clearly went out off defenders. Awful stuff.
Would have taken a draw before kick-off, but considering we played 70 minutes againist 10 men, and were twice in the lead, it was a poor result, Third 2-2 draw at home having been in front, another ****-up by Ryan costs us two points. Looks like Bray are gone and it is us and Drogheda in the play-off

we really played some great football tonight and should have finished the game off .Had enough chances to win it but just couldnt score ! Rovers had a few chances also but really thought we were the better team . Darius Kierans is doing a hell of a job so far , early days but we are playing a hell of a lot better fottball than under matthews . No coincidence that jamie harris is out injured . Happy days .

Tought Buttimer was shocking tonight.
Well he wont be on his own in the bold corner. Tom Connolly produced a typical shocking display at Oriel tonight.
He gave Fingals Ger O'Brien a straight red for a fairly harmless foul. Obviously saw it as a "last man" foul, which was really bizarre. If a ref is not sure why not consult with the lino - is it arrogance or ignorance?
Two cracking goals tonight - another from Faz (he could have had a hatrick) and a peach of a winner form Ronan Finn. The game should have been all over at half-time with all the chances Dundalk had, but look jaded again in the second half. With 15 games in 60 days, injuries, suspensions and fatigue has really taken its toll. The break has come not a moment too soon.

Ill echo that. An absolute joke of a ref. What about the lino giving us a kick out after Clarky pams the ball out for a corner.:)
Despite the ref doing his best to ruin the game it was edge of the seats stuff at times. Your lads ran out of steam after the break and our better passing started to pay off.
Great goal to win it and im delighted to get our first win up there.

Good game in Tallaght last night. End to end with both teams trying to win it at the death. Though we should have killed it off way before that. First half we were superb and completely controlled the game. 2nd half Rovers obviously came into it a lot more but we still had the chances to kill it off when we went 1-0 up. Fair play to Darius though. We're a totally different animal now.
I think, maddeningly, that Dundalk's defeat an be traced back to Friday's debacle in the cup which left 3 players suspended from a small squad. Dundalk were excellent in the first half and should have had the game wrapped up. Early in the second half an injury forced a sub and we only had kids on the bench. Midfield was conceded immediately and fair play to Fingal they took advantage. Both teams playing football for the most part, which was nice. Tom Connolly... shudder.

It was announced at the game as Ventre, alternatively RTE's report is pretty detailed, alot of info in a short space of time.
Quickest League goal in the UCD Bowl. Sligo Rovers the only team UCD havn't taken points off.
Sligo Rovers deserved their win, we never got the penetration we needed to catch them up. Although we saw alot of the ball.
Chris Mulhall had a great game out on the left wing and when his crosses did land to a UCD player we shot from distance over the bar.
Trademark double substitution on 55 minutes. Evan McMillan hit the bar in the second half, maybe if it went in.
Good crowd supporting Sligo, alot of colours being worn aswell.
Every team has now played each other, so finally, finally the League table is representative of performance. UCD have to watch both ends of the table at once.

Buttimer was 25- 30 yards away from the Shelley"peno" and could not have have had a clear view. I thought he was going directly to book Sheppard for diving as well. If distance was Buttimers excuse for that crap decision, he was perfectly placed for his other howlers, including those mentioned above (two yellows or straight red for Killian would have been justified, O `Donnells midfield assault on Brennan in the second half was also a straight red imo). I enjoyed the game though, despite the ref and the equally incompetent assistants. I think Galway could catch UCD if they can hold on to their players in the transfer window.

Super win for the Bit o Red at the UCD bowl. Both teams played some excellent football at times. I thought Keane's sending off was a bit harsh, tackle wasn't fully two footed, it was fifty fifty and he won the ball.
There were two older Sligo fans in front of me; I got the feeling they were reserve taem coaches or involved in some official capacity from talking to them. They called it straight away as a red - said the studs were up, end of story. Our player had to be subbed off, so I don't think you can use the "Won the ball" argument - the point is that those sort of tackles can cause serious injury, so you clamp down on them even if they don't. That said, I was surprised to see a red given alright.
Bit of a strange game. Sligo were set up very attacking - I don't think I've ever seen a team line up 4-2-4 before, which is more or less what they did when they had the ball. Closed us down very high up the pitch too, but still managed to get bodies back to defend, which was impressive. And yet for all that, they only scored from two keeping mistakes, and we hit the bar.
I think we'd have been in fourth had we won. Instead, we're thankful for late equalisers against Drogheda and Galway.

I didn't think it was a red either, Keane seemed to win the ball and his following leg caught the UCD lad. I don't think it was Keane's fault he was down for so long, he think it was the way he hit the ground, he fell awkwardly. Have to say that Mulhall lad is quality, absolutely raped Dav every time he had the ball, we really struggled against him. Very impressed with the UCD team, they probably have the best midfield in the league. Wasn't sure about Bolger's red (or second yellow or whatever), wasn't watching. Was looking at two lads in front of me with the same haircuts, considering the style myself.

:D
Bolger's red was for a second yellow; he followed through on the keeper when cutting in along the by-line. From watching it on the video (haven't watched the Sligo red yet, but it'll be up on YouTube later this week), it looked a little bit harsh - didn't seem to be much in the way of connection, but it did look careless when already on a yellow. At worst, I'd say the two reds balanced each other out; they were more for what could have been done rather than what was done.
Mulhall was superb first half until it came to making a telling pass. The bit where he got your number 3 booked was quality; turned him two or three times in the one go, got away and was just hauled back. He faded badly in the second though. Don't know was it cos he was far side of me and I didn't notice as much or did ye have someone new on him or did your 3 just improve an awful lot at the break.

Just didn't think they UCD got the ball to him as much in the second half. Funny seeing Ndo telling Dillon and Davoren how they should mark him towards the end of the first half.

I would suggest that making "Tallaght" a variable in that sentence(insert ground as appropriate) you could apply this to almost every LOI game :(
Pity Delaney/FAI are only concerned about refs when it is a World Cup match.
