Couple of gift goals from Wexford, together with some clinical finishing from Rovers, meant an easy passage for Rovers after Wexford had been unlucky to go in two-one down. With Anto suspended and Patsy gone (?), Wexford started Packie, Wolfie, Chris, Breener, Dean, Jimmy, Shane D., Shane S., Kevin and Gary and Danny up front. Rovers got the early lead when their winger beat two players down the Wexford left and his cross found Baker clear who headed home. However, Wexford soon equalised when a long ball found Murray out and Gary scooped the ball over Mannus. Twigg then made it two-one when he beat Breener to a header with a real bullet and Jimmy then hit the post coming in from the right while Gary and Danny had half-chances. Two-one at half-time.

First goal of second-half was going to be crucial and Rovers got it when ball was headed by Youths defender back into the box and easy lay-off found Rovers attacker who finished easily. Fourth was another mistake from Wexford when ball came to Chambers on right when it should have been cleared and he volleyed nicely to finish. Fifth for Rovers came from far-post header. Youths had their own chances in the second half and Jimmy hit the bar with chip from outside the box after Mannus had been caught out of position and Gary latched onto a bad backpass, rounded the keeper on his left but his shot was cleared off the line by Rovers defender. Gary really excelled with his pace in the wide open spaces and Jimmy and Shane D. were also impressive. Muzzi came on for Kevin after an hour and late subs were Aidan McCann amd Martin Kehoe (good to see both getting a run). Comfortable win for Rovers in match which died a bit after Rovers' third went in.
