Except Houghton always wanted to play for Ireland and describes himself as 'London-Irish from Donegal'!!

Houghton is from Glasgow , Castlemilk the same area as McGeady

The flip side is why do Scotland pick English born players using the grandparent rule & then complain when a player like McGeady or McCarthy decides to play for Ireland?

I don’t recall the Scottish supporters or press complaining about their selection of Graeme Murty, Nigel Quashie etc… using the grandparent rule or complaining about their selection of former England underage internationals like Stuart McCall, Robbie Stockdale, James McEveley or Nigel Quashie.

But seriously they aren't Scottish if they are Irish.

If an Irish born lad declared for Scotland (unlikely but still), i dont think we would be all that happy either.
