Great to bring it back to Limerick. Fair play to all involved.

A good game played in a very sporting manner with just one yellow card shown. The Cork officials had an easy afternoon, no bad tackles, no dissent - a very clean game of football. St.Michaels were the better team but really it was a case of two excellent defences. Chalky Walsh won 'Man of the Match' award but must have been run close by Paul Breen, Davy Ryan and Brian Buckley. St.Michaels had huge support which added to the atmosphere of the occasion. At the end of the penalty shoot-out, instead of relishing their joy at winning, several of the Fairview players, led by their captain Brian Buckley, immediately went to the St.Michaels players to comisserate with them - most sporting of them. Congratulations to Fairview Rangers on their win and excellent achievement of junior and youths F.A.I. double.

What an achievement by Fairview, 8-time FAI Junior Cup winners, FAI Junior and Youths Cup winners in the same season. Congratulations, a great club. First club to do that unique double. Listening on the radio it sounded like a good atmosphere at Turner's Cross. Thought it was a disgrace the way Live95FM covered the game - why they covered the 2nd half of the Munster Football Semi and wouldn't switch to the soccer from the very start was a joke, the FAI Junior Cup Final is 20 times a bigger game than the Munster GAA Football Semi-final between two sh1te counties that are mediocre at best, why they didn't cover the soccer from the start beats me - Fairview going for an unprecidented 8th FAI...

Was listening myself and to be honest it sounded like a very even game, like the good old days with the penalties commentary, its actually way more exciting listening than watchin a shoot out, thought it was great to hear soccer on the wireless again, hard lines on Cosgrave the ex Fairview man on missing such an important penalty, well done to Fairview on the double and i'm sure St Michael's will be back, but overall great for Limerick junior soccer

Fair play to in my view the best Junior soccer club in the Country the last 10-15 years. I know Ballymun/St Kevins/Portamarock/Pike Rvs/Evergreen/Clonmel/Carrick but lets all be honest the best team is FAIRVIEW RNGS. I am invovled in the Kildare League and was involved in a Fairview encounter which brought our club forward so far.

well done fairview you did limerick proud again yesterday. IMO it was a very poor game for a fai final agree with a pervious poster it was two fantastic defences on top walsh and buckley were outstanding at the back i also thought mike ryan was outstanding for the view chap with yellow boots was excellant for micheals aswell.
i must say i felt sorry for all people trevor cosgrave of all people to miss the vital pen he had a very good game

Hear hear!!
One point I'd like to make. I found it very strange that St Michaels let Trevor Cosgrave take a penalty. For a lad that has such close ties with Fairview, and knows a lot of the View players so well, I thought it strange that they put so much extra pressure on him with the spot kick.
Congrats to Fairview. Fantastic achievement.

Trevor is a player with a very professional attitude. His ties to Fairview are irrelevent and would not have entered anyone's head when the list of penalty takers was put together.

ya..top top man, a colossal in any dressing room, as a player or as a sub, felt sorry for him sunday, but he's a super fella and will bounce back, you musnt remember also, he came back from a broken leg this yr to play oustandingly well in an fai final.

I'm not saying anything at all bad about the lad. I just thought he would have more on his plate stepping up to take that peno than someone who personally knew none of the fairview boys etc. Thats all...

Cant see why a fella's previous clubs would have any bearing on him taking a Peno, if anything it might make him more determined to stick it away. But what motivation would YOU need to score a penalty in the shoot-out of the FAI Junior Cup Final?? Its unfortunate for the poor lad, it just wasnt meant to be. If he had to take it again he may have scored but likewise the other lads who did score may miss if they had to take theirs again, c'est la vie!!!

that would mean none of the pike players could take a peno against their old teams..as far as i can see none of them started at pike apart from donovan...all from other clubs

Just as well so the Munster Junior Cup Final didn't go to penalties. It would have ment Alan Ryan, Ian Cleary, Michael Cody, Alan Cody would have been unavailable for spot kicks if this theory holds water.

There is no clubs jealous of another envy is the word you are looking for, i have seen limerick people cheer on teams from other counties when fairview, pike, boro, balla, reg were playing why i dont know but thats the way it is.

You don't have to be a rocket scientiest to see the envy as poolman put it against pike rovers,is it because they are so successful or what.remember they were only a blob of ink away from winning the fai and fairview in all honesty would agree with that.view v pike would have been a fantastic final and I'll bet there would have been a lot more people at it than was in cork.

if it had been a view v pike match pike would of refusing to go to cork and they wouldn't change the date either enough of the ifs well done to fairview
You're wrong there andrew because the final would have been played earlier so it wouldn't have mattered.and pike wouldn't have had a choice anyway.well done to view though great achievement the double.

I heard there was a few changes at the top table in Pike Rvs - have people paid the price for the FAI debacle?

First must i say congrats to Fairview on the winning of the fai junior and minor cups, what an achievement....
secondly this is a thread about the fai junior cup , not about which club is better, why people hate pike, who would have won if pike had made the final.
IMO I am glad the view won as if michaels had won then that would have been really wrong.
I have played with both Fairview and pike and both are good clubs. which is better is only a matter of opinion. That is an argument for another thread. Why people dislike, envy or are jealous of pike, again that is for another thread.
as said previouslycongrats to fairview juniors and minors. It will be good to see a few of the minors make the grade at a higher level.
