Comfortable win for Cork in Ferrycarrig tonight with concession of two soft goals and missed penalty by Wexford in first half giving the Youths to much to do. Wexford started at full strength with Packie in goal, Wolfie, Anto, Breener, Dean, Jimmy, Patsy, Shane, Kevin and Danny and Gary up front. Wexford had first shot on target when Jimmy got a good left foot shot away but Cork scored with their first attack when Rogers clipped a cross in the box which found a Cork attacker all alone at the far post who had only to side-foot it into the net. Wexford then had a good effort from Danny which went just over the bar and then got their penalty when Gary ran deep into the Cork box and was taken down by Rogers who got a yellow. Gary's penalty was skied over the bar, however, with a surprising lack of control. With a minute to go in the half, Cork got a freekick which bounced around in the Youths box and a shot looped gently towards the goal. Packie seemed to think that it was going over but it hopped off the crossbar straight onto the Cork forward's head and he nodded it away for number two. Don't often refer to mistakes by Packie but that was one. Nil-two at half-time.

Wexford needed to start brightly in the second half but looked like a team who could have played for a week without scoring. Couple of long shots and one chance to Gary when McNulty didn't come out to collect and left Gary a difficult volley which he dragged wide were the only chances to Wexford in the second-half and match was over as a contest long before the final whistle. Cork had two good efforts on goal in second half and also pulled two point-blank saves from Packie n quick succession when another cross found a Cork attacker alone in the box. Two late subs for Wexford were Muzzi Mullen and Shane Sinnott whom I thought could have come on earlier in a game where Wexford needed a Plan B from early on in the second half. Maybe 350 at the match with good away support from Cork.

think you are being a bit harsh about the pen yes it looked bad but it clipped the bar and just kept rising. IMO we need an out and out goal scorer as we are creating some chances but cant finish enough of them
