Am in total shock. He was not to everyone's taste but he was one of the biggest radio icons of our time in this country and he seemed to be such a big family man & am just so upset for his 5 kids. RIP Gerry, you annoyed us, shocked us and made us laugh. x

Very sad news, RIP Gerry. As mentioned above, not to everyones tastes but a good broadcaster nonetheless. He had been through alot in recent years with the death of his mother and marriage break up. Presume he was on the radio yday morning?

RIP. Didn't like him as a broadcaster but he was still a young man and it's awful for his family.

confirmed on a newsflash on 2fm, think that's only the 3rd newsflash I've ever heard.

Still a young man, and at 53 younger than both my parents.

I know some people had their problems with him, but I have to say I did like listening to the first half hour or so of his show in the morning on the way to work.

RIP.

I'm in shock and sorry to hear this news. He was just 53 years old. He had 5 kids and a wife he was separated from.

He was an amazing radio presenter.

God rest him

Was never a fan of his, but one of our biggest broadcasting success stories. Terrible for his family, friends and colleagues. RIP.

His paper reviews were good and then you could switch stations when the loopers started ringing in.Not a fan of his TV work.

The Ryanline is now closed.RIP.

i have listened to him since he started his morning show many years ago. Sometimes he really annoyed me but mostly he had some very informative topics on his show. He will be hugely missed by that particular station, he was what made them different. So sorry for his 5 kids. i know he used to be seen regularly at soccer matches when one of his lads played for Clontarf although he was a professed rugger bugger

Poor aul Gerry, not the worst of them. He was responsible for countless cringing moments but I always got the impression his heart was in the right place. R.I.P.

Never listened to him, but he gave one of the iconic moments I can remember from the Late Late - when they staggered in from Mayo or somewhere sheep are scared, and talked about killing a lamb with a rock in a sock.

RIP

Christ on a bike!! thats nuts!

Never liked him as a radio presenter and certainly didnt like him on the tv, have memories of him around the house or in the car in 90's and my head hurting after. I can understand his ways and means may have appealed to some and thats fine. Its his family i feel sorry for hopefully they will be left to grieve.

RIP G. Ryan.
