Have to laugh at some of the crap thats written and commentated about Dundalks pitch ,there is not one pitch in the league where the ball bounces or runs the same every time ,the fact is, it is the most consistant surface in the league.

but the pitch gives an unpredictable bounce of every ball .
Not as unpredictable was where a Jason Byrne dead ball kick will land. His free kick that went about 20 yards over the bar would be funny in an under 10's game.
Lads, why so defensive about your ptich?
Maybe something got to do with all the nonsense and ill-informed criticism.
Its a pitch that suits football players. Poor players and losing teams tend to moan.
Alex Williams now with St Patrick's Athletic in interview with BBC Scotland recently-
"It's probably the best artificial surface I have ever played on," said the 27-year-old.
"You can pass the ball about well and, although some players do moan about it, I have no problem with it.
"If you can play football then this surface is ideal."

Not an issue for Pats as they haven't lost (or conced a goal) on it yet.
Williams likes it. Cawley doesn't. Your own fans above think it shoujld be watered more. And its better than most of the quagmires about
Still don't get why you're so defensive about criticism though
Dissappointing result for us last night. We probably deserved the draw but played very poorly.
We were shocking in the first half and if philly hughes wasn't such a fat waste of talent Mons could have had a couple. We were far better in the second half and Davin missed a sitter.
The goal was a free out for a push on Nults but we brought it on ourselves conceeding 3/4 corners in a row that late in a game.
Mons are strong, well organised and have a very good midfield. Will cause most teams a lot of trouble this year. We'll need to up it a fair bit against Harps.

Over simplistic about what Cawley has said. He described the pitch as being different to what he expected, not that he disliked it.
After a poor performance in the first home game of the season against Drogheda, some Dundalk players expressed the wish for more water on the pitch. Wiser observations wanted a change in formation. Both have since happened
Still don't get why you're so defensive about criticism though
Dodge - you are not normally so slow. Unreasonable criticism, ill-informed comments (and excuse making) will normally not go unchallenged here. If that is being "defensive" to you - so be it.

And Socrates played for UCD......
Another myth from ill-informed people. It bounces the exact same every time! There has been FIFA tests done to confirm this or we wouldn't have gotten a licence for it. Would the pitches in Galway, Bray or Sligo pass the same tests in recent weeks??
you must'nt of been at the Dundalk game there recently so.
Despite the monsoon weather that evening the pitch was immaculate.
huge improvements over the last 12 months.

my mistake there paulie, too many post match pints in kennedys!!!!
Exactly, always thought a lot of people made too much of this pitch, both positive and negatives, besides is it really that much of an advantage to us ? last night was only our 3rd league win at home since Sept !!

Absolutely its being defensive, What do you care what "ill informed" people on the internet post about your pitch?
Paulie, time to change your signature !! Thursday's are long gone, thankfully.

it cant really be an advantage to the dundalk lads as every second week they have to play on a ''normal'' pitch its a funny complaint to have consider playing on differing surfaces week in week out is a disadvantage for them is it? :) sure every pitch at every club is different..

Shocked to hear that Philly wasnt great last nite as he has been fantastic for us lately. He has set up a lot of goals and has banged in a few so far this season too. He is only back from an injury 2 weeks now and we will be expecting big things off him for the rest of the season.

Your 16,875 posts seem to indicate that "ill informed" internet posts might be a bigger issue for you. Does this make you defensive by your own definition?
Nope, as above I've no issue with what ill informed people think of me, or my posts

Its the same as the Moscow surface and if that wasn't up to standards then a champs league final would never be allowed on it.
Another clean sheet for Beno.
Doing brilliant for Athlone this season.

We scored some goals!! :D
Beno made a great save with an outstretched leg in the first half.
We won the penalty within 30 seconds of the start. Poor stuttered effort from Aussie, and Ritchie O'Hanlon hit the post from the rebound. Looked like it was going to be another one of those nights.
Good to see Robbie Farrell with his first of the season after taking a bit of flack due to lack of goals. Should have had another two with great headers from Noel McGee and Robbie Benson.
Up to joint-4th now.

Didnt they have to put grass on it for that game.

Not too sure maybe they did but they do play International matches on it at times.

I don't think they had to. But yes, they did replace the surface for the final. But his point remains, it hosts Champions League and International matches, it's clearly a suitable surface.

Plastic pitches are fine, biggest problem is the pass has to be accurate and your touch has to be perfect. If none of the those 2 happen the ball is gone.
Pro players shouldnt have a problem with it.
If any LOI club does they can rent it out and train on it the night before a game :)
The goal was a free out for a push on Nults but we brought it on ourselves conceeding 3/4 corners in a row that late in a game. He should never have come for it through a congested area.
I saw he was impeded but couldn't tell if it was one of our players or a Monaghan player.

I played on Oriel when Dundalk were in the 1st division and it was grand to play on i hear its a better surface now.

There is absolutly nothing wrong with the new surface. Its UEFA and FAI approved but certain managers, players and pundits love to blame it or slate it. Its a joke with the likes of Rico saying we have a huge advantage on it but half the lads gave out about it after our first home game of the season v Drogheda. None of them have had any qualms with it since.

Its FIFA TWO STAR, UEFA and FAI approved.
Fixed for you... ;)

Being pedantic, but they play in Terryland, as despite being committed to the league, the club refuses to put the necessary infrastructre in place to play league games at Fahy's Field.

Agreed, but that's Nults for you.
Magicme: Hughes wasn't poor, he held up the ball and created a bit but should have finished a couple and a bit of pace would have had him through a few times.
