Hi all,
You all probably have some knowledge of the group Show Racism the Red Card and the kind of work and initiatives that they are involved in whether it be running workshops in schools, anti racist wrist bands and posters and more recently a very successful creative competition for schools and youth groups.

I got involved myself with them a few months back in relation to the schools creative competition and would encourage anyone else who wants to confront racism to do likewise. Groups like SRTRC cant function wothout volunteers and even a hour of your time can be really helpful. The awful murder in Dublin recentley of Toyosi, Eamon Zayeds article about his abuse, and the TUI survey which indicated nearly 50% of teachers have witnessed racist abuse are just 3 example of why we need to confront this problem.

In the near future SRTRC are organising an intercultural camp in Donegal so fundraising and volunteers are needed for that, posters being given out and bucket collections at league of Ireland clubs will also be taking place. If you would like to get involved here in Sligo give me a PM or volunteer through SRTRC website
Cheers,
Jamie
