Bit of a shame that. Their last album wasn't great but they've made some cracking tunes and 'In It For The Money' is easily one of the best albums of the 90s.

Gutted to hear that. Always had a soft spot for Supergrass.

"Supergrass is 10" is a must have compilation - Caught by the Fuzz, Richard III, Grace, Pumpin on your Stereo, Late in the Day, Lenny............the hits keep on comin.

Always thought Road To Rouen was a very under-rated album. Strangely enough, I hated 'Alright' their biggest hit...

Its a cracker actually, shows how good a band SuperGrass were/are. I love them, think they are top drawer. I loved the version of the Smiths song they did - "some women are bigger than others"

Agree with above - Alright wasn't too popular with the band either. Its the song that's synonamous with the band as far as the wider public are concerned - but its completely unrepresentative of the true quality they churned out throughout their 17 years.

Theres a spine of quality running through all of their albums - "Life on Other Planets" is another great album. A true lost gem.

Even the last album "Diamond Hoo Ha" has some great tracks - "Rebel in You", "When I needed you", "Ghost of a friend", "Butterfly" - all great songs. Most bands would kill for "Butterfly" to close their sets.

The more I dwell on this, the more gutted I get!!!!

Yep, loved Road to Rouen myself. Funny how a good album like that seems to slip under the radar. Probably a case of being written off too soon.

For me its the song "Moving", it is the perfect popsong Love it. Evertime i hear it it makes me smile.

I remember telling my mates i was going to see them a few years ago...may have been oxegen...and the reply was..."that them monkey lookin fellas with the alright song"...you can kinda understand why the band might not have liked the song as it seems alot of people didn't realise they had other songs....

Have to mention st petersburg too what a beautiful song!!

A great, desperately underrated band. Very disappointed to see them go. Alright was of it's time, but can see why they were sick of it. It made them, but was also always the comparison - either with indie kids writing them off or by other stuff not being as radio friendly. It does happen to bands - The Boo Radleys being another band who I loved who didn't really recover from the size of the hit of "Wake Up Boo" imo.

Road to Rouen was an amazingly good album, but from then on I had the feeling that they were really bored with the whole thing. I know that they were asking an absolute fortune for touring that album, which gave me the impression that they were doing one more round for the dough and then going to call it a day.

Give them 5 years, then they'll be back in a lucrative festival tour.
